Can this game run on macbook air nicely?
As in take less than 5 gb of space and not overheat my macbook air. Is it playable with the trackpad or do I need a mouse for sure?

Also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the game's expensive I've been waiting for years for a sale but it only got more expensive :(

It probably can run on a MacBook, but I have no idea since I don't "Apple."

As long as you're playing with the normal, vanilla, game and you're not using a ton of mods or running more colonists than the default limits, you "should be" fine.

I'd recommend getting a mouse, though. I assume MacBooks allow you to have a mouse without having to get a second mortgage or sacrifice a goat to the ghost of Steve Jobs or something.

PS - I assume you're asking because there is an Apple version... If you're going to try running it in a sandboxed Windows OS using a Windows version, I certainly can't give any advice there.

It ran on my 10 year old potato with 4GB of ram, a 1 GB graphics card and a 2.31 dual core processor so I think you should be fine, although you may want to get a mouse

For what it's worth, it ran fine on my 2017 MacBook Pro. It is quite playable with the trackpad.

The install size is less than 300 MB.

Game size not big at all.

It’ll run okay with a few colonist but it will inevitably lag. Your MacBook will get hot like it does with most other games. As far as I’m concern this 1.0 is garbage performance compared to past alphas -when I had a MacBook- so I don’t know.

Compared to most games available for mac, it'll run decent since it doesn't require much graphic wise.

Yeah for the temperature you might want to get that thing with fans for laptops to cool it down further. They aren't expensive but they limit the compactness (is that the right word?) of your macbook

I play on an 2014 air, with a lot of mods, and it's not an issue. I notice some hiccups after a bit e.g. there's like a half-second lag or stutter every few seconds, and once you have a solid town with a lot of people the speed-up feature becomes less effective.

Overall though no problems.

"Owns a Mac"
and
"Cannot afford $30"

are two incompatible statements
