Long range mineral scanner how does it work?
So i should have a pawn who is set to research and the pawn will time to time go and search with the scanner? Very weird they just keep researching in the research table and never touch it unless i make them and when i make them they don't stay for more than 1 in game hour

The long range mineral scanner is a research job. If you have a research table and a long range mineral scanner you will need two colonists with research set to a higher priority to operate them both at the same time.
Or turn one off so the researcher operates the desired one.

I believe the research table takes precedence over the scanner, so if there are jobs at both and only one researcher then the colonist will keep defaulting to the research table.

There are work priorities within each work type. a colonist set to plant grow, for example, will harvest all mature crops before harvesting a tagged tree. Same thing with "research" and scanning.

I recommend the Work Tab mod if you want things more automated, but in lieu of that, it's either two researchers, or forced-work games.

What's weird about it.
Scanning is just another research job.

Now imagine you are the researcher.
You have two jobs available:
1) sit at a comfy chair in an ultra-clean, temperature controlled research lab and research.
or
2) stand OUTSIDE exposed to the elements, searching for rocks on the landscape.

I know which option *I* would choose!!

You would go outside, stand in the waste/corpse dumping zone, searching for rocks on the map. Why? Because I'm forced you to do that. 😈

I made a normal room for the scanner too xD although the researching one is far better

That... might be a problem.
The long-range mineral scanner scans the whole planet it is on.
Normally it is placed on the surface of the planet it needs to scan.
*YOURS* is in a sealed 6x6 box, so that is all it is capable is scanning. The contents of the room.

Putting long-range mineral scanner in a room makes as much sense as mounting your telescope underground.

You can put it in a room, as long as there are no roof tiles over the machine. So not deep into your mountain base, and not in a feasibly temperature controllable room, but you can roof over the chair spot.

Bring cocoa.
