Performance impact mods
Hi!

I've recently quit from 2 colonies because when I reached around 15 colonist and had a big base my game just exploded, save games doesnt load, and its just laggy af.
I've already checked debug and nothing seems wrong. I have 200+ mods, but I dont want to unsubscribe any of them, but if I have to I want to know which are the most impactful performance-wise. Hauling, factions, weapons?

TY!

One of this statements is a false.

This even regardless I'm not believe into 200 mods without any conflicts (=errors in logs).

There are, of course they are, but after fixing them or cheking that they are not causing any hard crash or error I just ignore them. The game just went fluid until I reached 16 pawns and had a big base, then suddenlly after a few hours started going terribly bad and nothing remarkable changed

We need more information.

What map size are you using? Any of the large+ maps are a very bad idea, especially when on tiles where there's plenty of activity and you build large bases.

What map tile do you spawn in? The more activity, the more things begin to slow down.

Exactly how big were these bases? Other than to look good, you shouldn't be building big bases.

There is a softcap on how many colonists you should have, which is why downing raiders without killing them becomes harder the more pawns you have. You don't need more than roughly 9-12 colonists.

Exactly what mods do you have that are oh-so important? Because you will have to make a sacrifice. Things that add in large amounts of content or adds additional thinking to pawns (haul while you're up), take performance hits. Raids that spawn in with newer/more gear definitely bog things down, especially when raids are first formed from the event letter. Just like mods that add thinking require more steps and direction when there's already enough going on.

1. A medium map, cant remember the size right now

2. I´ve spawned in a montainous boreal forest

3. Maybe 1/6 of the map or a little bit more

4. Yeah I know but I always fall in the same mistake of recruiting more and more....

5. I cant tell you right now but with 200+ mods its difficult to say, I just wanted a general overview of which kind of mods are the most performance impacful ones.

I really don't understand you. You're saying "no crashes" and in same time "saves don't load". How it's possible?

Anyway first thing that I will disable it's AI-related mods (pathfinding is making most load usually) & anything that making more animals / plants / pawns persist on map. This include non-sense crap like vampires and similiar.

Then content mods (especially large one, with new jobs and similiar).

The game is poorly optimized. When you have that many mods then yeah, some of them are probably affecting the performance to some extent. The thing is.. Lots of players quit their colonies after a while cause of the performance issues. You should really try to the game in vanilla to test your pc limitations with rimworld. Maybe your pc can't handle that many pawns late game.

Dude, a mod called startup impact it appears as a check mark in the bottom right of the inital screen when you start the game. It shows which mods took how long to load. Also, ModCheck mod will make sure all your mods are in the correct order, it won't move anything, but make "suggestions"
