Buying.
Mining.
Deep drilling.
Disassemble mechs.

Unless you swim in silver, drilling is the most efficient way to get it.

There's always the good Wild West solution of GIMME ALL YOUR GOODS AND ORGANS BEFORE I BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT.

Please note, this is most likely a one time trick as they'll never send you another trade convey.

If I have any spare silver, I'll buy as much as I can from traders and stockpile it, knowing I'll need every bit in the later parts of the game.

You can also get some from the long range mineral scanner.

I don't have mechs, plasteel deposits (that i know of) or deep drill technology

You will get a mech raid eventually unless modded out, you can get deep drilling technology and silver comes as you play.

Plasteel above ground deposits is stupidly rare. I don't mine out every mountain map I play in, but I only find above ground deposits in maybe 1 in 5 maps.

Then you shouldn't have much need for it yet. Once you can research stuff that needs lots of plasteel, you can also research deep drills.

For the small volume you might need right now, you'll need to get a trade going, or wait for mechs.

Surface mining
Deep mining
Trading with towns
Trading with caravans (oddcasionally)
Trading with passing ships (better results than caravans)
Scavenge from Mechanoids and their Ship fragments
Buying Plasteel McGuffins from traders, then recycling.
Plasteel meteor.

But the best way:
Use the tool that is *designed* to locate rare mineable materials, the Long Range Mineral Scanner
It will locate a huge, freestanding ore of the desired mineral out on the world map, withing easy caravan range. Just saddle up a dozen muffaloes to carry back the loot, send 2-3 miners and a week's food, and you will be swimming in the stuff!
My last haul brought back some 4300 steel.
Plasteel deposits tend to be a bit smaller, but still expect several hundreds.

Your are (almost) guaranteed to have one plasteel surface ore, and you *are* guaranteed to have at least 2 deep-ore plasteel veins on a standard-sized map.

I have never seen a map without at least one surface deposit each of Silver, Plasteel, Gold. Most also have one Jade and Uranium. And *all* maps have a dead minimum of 3 large-ish steel and 3 component ores.

Start mass producing coke or meth and start selling it in bulk, like 300 of the chosen drug, if you can't sell it all then go to other places to sell.
This should solve the problem of silver, now with the silver buy plasteel and better weapons and defences so that raiders aren't a problem but make sure to start in a mountain or relocate as it will help drastically with defence against bandits.

plasteel can be mined i never had that i mostly dissemble those mechs and drill it

mining in early game. After 4 or so years, the game will be sending you so many mechanoid you never have to worry about plasteel shortage ever again.

A modded one. Crafting plasteel isn't in vanilla.

Generally you get 50 plasteel for the multi-analyser through trade, mechs or a lucky vein, then use that to research deep drilling so you'll eventually drown in the stuff.
