yea I at the time had to build a single wall/block in the center to get a roof placed there.
But I'm wondering how big until the roof can't get placed.
Ah okay I see now
ah I usually make store rooms 10x10
But you shouldn't necessarily use that, because the bigger the room the more likely you are to have a collapse if walls fall in a fire or a raid. Plus, for storage rooms, a 12x12 doesn't quite fit the shape of a trade beacon.
I often make storage rooms the shape of a trade beacon, and just put in the necessary supports.
If you use even amounts of tiles.
This mod is pretty nice.
I have difficulty convincing the game to put a roof on anything larger than 128x128, even when there are suitable pillars for the roof.
Without pillars? 12x12 floorspace, which is 14x14 walls.
Make it even 1 bigger and you need *multiple* support pillars.
My storage rooms are 15x15 floorspace with the trading beacon in the center and only one support pillar right next to it
12xA of space (with 14xA walls), A - any number.
21x21 space (23x23 walls) with 1 cell wall at the center
21x42 space with 2 walls at centers of both 21x21 squares (any 21xA*21 works).
Any square of space bigger than 21x21 requires at least 4 additional walls inside.
You can check the maximum area of roofing that can be placed around a single support here
