Gamebreaking Stuttering Outdated Unity?!
Hey Folks!,
ive like more than 600h real gametime into this. Iam a big fan, but right now the game is unplayable even vanilla.

You WILL expirience constant stutter every 3-5 seconds no matter what game speed.
DUE TO OUTDATED UNITY - Will reset your used memory in a way that causes performance issues.

I will change this post and review if the game will stop stuttering. Right now it's unplayable even w/o mods.

Bullpuckey. The game is completely playable, with the empirical evidence of MANY PLAYERS, most of whom are quite satisfied with the game. Personally, I get occasional lag spikes (WITHOUT RuntimeGC, so far; I tried it but it makes my art too boring) but not regularly and certainly not to the point of "ruining the game". Your use case *does not* necessarily define that of anyone else.

Second, if you think adapting a game to a new version of Unity is easy or likely to happen, you're quite simply an idiot. It would require nearly a full rewrite of the game! In other words, it's not at all likely to ever happen.

I've watched more than one dev suffer through this kind of "upgrade", and it hasn't been worth it yet. Not once.

I only have stutters because I play with BOTH the Psychology and Hospitality mod (It will spike for a bit when a major event happens; like 10 visitors leaving at the same time) but other than that I have no stutters or lag whatsoever. TBH it sounds more like an issue on your end, OP
dudes look into the fkin thread i linked b4 u talk ♥♥♥♥ <3

Wow, my 11-year-old machine must be very impressive then, as *I* am playing with no issues whatsoever.

You can't fix stupid.

Instead of just nay-saying that this is not happening, I did follow the posted link and it seems that this is link the GTX 960s, possbily the entire range of GTXs in that class. So it probably is a Unity issue not playing nice with the established drivers, and getting Tynan to file a ticket with the Unity devs would see it fixed sooner rather than later.

Right now, you probably CAN fix this by rolling back your video card drivers, though you will have to start at the oldest ones and start moving forward until you find which are stable enough to run without it interfering with system RAM (for some bizarre reason).

Not a single person said or implied Wolvgar (or anyone else, for that matter) isn't seeing this problem. Insisting, however, EVERYONE shares this identical issue, as Wolvgar repeatedly claims, is an immediate, obvious, silly fail.

Your tip re: the drivers is, however, a good one.
ive got a 1060 gtx 6gbram and considering behaviour of garbage collector ram mem piling up, resetting resulting in a frametime of aprox 600 while average is 16-20 using fps monitor (u nub bozbub can find it on steam too)
people even where able to recrete this ony several different computers, as stated in the forum thread.

and as gpu is behaving normal due to diagnostics iam not sure if theres a correlation, i.e. dont see a connection between gfx and the software rimworld ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ itself with mem requests :D

Once again, I'm not too worried about the opinon or problems of someone who a) thinks their experiences define the world's, and b) cannot even spell "noob" :steammocking:.

Protip: Even if several people have the same issue, that *does not* even remotely make it universal, or "gamebreaking" even it it is. No one ever denied you were having lag issues, nitwit, but your opinions and use-case are yours alone. Funny, how you're SO defensive, yet you cannot accept others have a different experience, isn't it?

Deal with it or don't, up to you, but insistence won't do any better for you than it already has (which is, frankly, not great). You ARE done here, no matter how long you keep trolling yourself ^^'.

My game is unplayable?!

If only I'd known before playing three hours of it just now! Oh noes!

Well, nuts. I was gonna make fun of the OP, but Bozo and Jig beat me to it.

Game plays fine here.

Off sick with a gouty wrist, nothing to do but surf and listen to NPR/BBC News...

As an aside, gout *sucks*.
