Unless the animal has collapsed and is not moving. It's the same for pawns, if they are not standing still (healing themselves) or resting on a sleeping spot/bed the doc can't patch them up.
Actually; if you have some coding knowledge you CAN....I pick my mod-composition this way (for example) based upon what I know about how mods might interact with other mods based upon the coding of both mods involved. I do plenty of troubleshooting when mods are involved on the Factorio forums this way (or Starbound....or this game).
My bad then...didn't mean to come across as offensive. Just tried to point out OP might actually have this knowledge and might still have the same problem (can happen if you remove mods that change base assets in the game itself) at which point the only 2 options are to:
1) Verify the game files
2) Uninstall and reinstall.
