Ship building
After 400 or so hours of game play I've finally got to the ship building stage!

I've completed all the research and set aside a large area to build this bad boy. However, I don't seem to be able to add cryo stasis tubes to the ship. I get the message about the head of the pod needing to attach to the ship structure but it's still highlighted in red for some reason.

Any ideas?

Also, I don't seem to have an Ancient Danger on the map. Unless it's completely buried in solid rock.

Just double-check real quick against an example of a ship that works. For example, the custom ship image from the RimWorld wiki: https://rimworldwiki.com/images/9/95/Ship.png

If it looks like what you're trying to do (in general, obviously - there are plenty of potential shapes possible for the ship) then perhaps it's time to check your mods if you run any, to see if they could be interfering with something.

First thing I did was to check the wiki.

Edit.

Problem solved. I was trying to fit ship cryo units to the ship when I should've used ordinary cryo units. This begs the question of why a ship based unit cannot fit on a ship in the first place?!

Going to bump this thread again, sorry.

It makes little or no sense to me that I cannot fit ship cryo units to the ships's structure at all. Clearly ordinary stasis caskets won't work in space.

I must be doing something wrong. Must I build the ship and then add the pods? The design I have is almost identical to that in the wiki. All ship parts connect using the ships structure beams, it's just so frustrating!

Please help me Obi Wan....

Heheh. The Jedi will not be helping you. The Galactic Empire will..........

Nonono, you need to use ship cryo units. Also: a ship cryo unit MUST be attached headfirst to a STRUCTURAL BEAM. It won't attach to anything else. You can't hook up the cryo pods to any other ship part, even if that other ship part is attached to a structural beam.

Now get that ship built pronto. Lord Vader does not tolerate failure........

Edit: the reason ordinary "non-ship" cryo pods SEEMED to attach to the ship is, you're allowed to build ordinary cryo pods anywhere. They may be next to ship parts, but they are NOT attached to the ship and the computer doesn't consider them part of it. Only "ship" cryo pods will attach and become part of the ship.

Maybe you are trying to attach the wrong end of the cryo tube, maybe try the other end.

So, got my ship blueprinted but not built. Will lay down the first ship structural unit and, once built, I'll see if it can fit a cryo-casket outfitted for space.

Vader, out.

Sorted!

Now the fun begins. Looking forwards to those 15 days of raids.
