Is there a mod that increases deep drilling resources?
I build every wall and floor out of steel because of safety, so it's drilling a hole in my steel supply, the deep drill resources are rather few and the quarry produces far too many chunks for my liking.

Omni core drill is pretty similar and you can adjust the amount of work it takes to drill a resource out of the ground. Somewhat OP but I turn the workload up a lot so it’s not too OP in my opinion

Quarry is another mod that'll let you get essentially infinite resources. More random than Omni Core Drill, and you can't set limits for materials, so much less reliable.

Apart from those two mods, I'd probably just go mine a different map section and send it back.

I know this is not the question but have you considered stone walls?
Theyre cheaper and more durable in most cases, not to mention fireproof.

ye send 2-3 guys onto another map tile, i would not go for mountainous, mountains take forever to dig trough to find resources, go for open map, no mountains, deep core drill, and mine it all out, then send it with a caravan, Other option is Quarry, but you can set pretty much every item ingame to be mined out, too tempting, too OP, and game breaking. If you go too crazy with Quarry, expect 5000 mechanoids dropping on top of you in pods

I think you can edit the game options to allow for more than 1 concurrent colony.
This might make it possible to set up a second colony as a nomadic mining operation - hit up the next tile over, strip-mine the map (and underground resources), then migrate to the next tile afterwards. Transport pods may make it simpler to move resources/supplies over long distances - or just caravans with trained pack animals over short distances.

I find the drill is okay for replacement amounts but not enough for building.

Try and build a long-range mineral scanner. It will detect steel on tiles outside your colony. Send all your best miners, a bit of food and some pack animals. It will take a day or two of mining but you can get 1000-2000 from one of these expeditions.

Also try trading with nearby settlements (and trade ships) - you can get a thousands that way too, but they only restock every couple of seasons.

I'm sure if you have the heart, (I don't!) you can dig through files and edit some numbers that allow for bigger reserves.

Just increase your deep drilling. :)

Yeah, you'll need some steel to build more deep drills, but once you got the drills, you should be able to route power to a steel deposit and start drillin'.

I've only got the one deep drill, and already I got steel comin' out my ears. And probably other parts of----errrrr, never mind. That's a mental image you probably don't need.

Both nostrils? You should probably slow down the steel production then. :-p

I've never managed to run out of steel from deep drills. The typical map has *so many* of these deposits, and each of them is good for several thousand steel.
My main problem is digging the stuff out rapidly enough.
(my last game has 12 drills active. 8 steel, the rest split between gold, uranium, plasteel, etc)

I use the quarry mod , I find it more useful for my needs

And as already was mentioned here - steel is very poor material for walls as they're fragile AND flammable. Stone walls are much better. Or if you wanna gone with mods - diamond walls from Carbon mod are my <3 - 3500 HP is no joke.

I actually have a mod that stops steel from being flammable. I wish there was a difference between regular fire and perhaps thermite. My Stone bricks usually get used up quickly by my artist(s) therefore I use steel instead.

Quarry is super useful, you can add deposits and remove them, the percentages of yield, it's so customizable that you shouldn't need anything else. It CAN be cheaty, but it can also be completely vanilla depending on how you set it up.

You'd be better off in all ways using stone for walls.
