Best Rimatomics Setup
So I just got in to the mod, already messed up the placement of reactors and stuff haha. Anyone have awesome set ups that work for them and look cool as well?

That's a very personalized thing.

I normally do a HUGE room (the size that needs many pillars to roof)
Then I declare that "nuclear zone" and put all nuclear stuff in there, event he raw Uranium for making pellets for making rods for fuelling the early reactors.

Having ample elbow room is essential.

And p.s.
I put a lot of tesla defense turrets in there. You do ***NOT*** want a Mech drop-pod to land in your reactor room, and start bashing things around!
If you are lucky, they will only break your cooling and scram the reactor, causing total loss of power. Or they might open the reactor while its running. fun fun fun.

you need id say 4 rooms for it

one room completely in a mountain (or in your most protected area) that holds the reactor

a small area near that room to hold spent and unspent reactor rods before you get pluto processing up (dont get a pool for it or anything just toss em on the floor)

a medium security area for your turbines and transformers

a low security area for your coolant system
So I have a decent set up but I can’t figure out the right amount of turbines and transformers to put in. I filled the reactor to the brim with fuel and turned it on but even though it was putting out 700k watts I don’t know if I’m making that much with my turbines etc

Look at the pictures on the research screen, that's a very basic setup and works fine. From there variations of that setup will be great. Unless you're stupid, then you're gonna have a problem.

In order to prevent radiation leakage 100% your walls need a total of 1000HP, or they need to be the DU special walls that come with the mod. I never build the DU walls because you need depleted Uranium which you can only get after your reactor has been running for a while so well,,,, you're probably already growing a third breast. I use one of the concrete mods, can't remember which one.

I do agree building into a mountain to protect the reactor is a good thing, HOWEVER, that does is make it harder to keep the reactor cooled. If you're using mods, get one of the shield mods and put one close to your reactor. I think one is called ED-Basic shields, the bastion shield will protect against drop pods and everything else. Just keep it away from your beacons because they also prevent orbital traders from delivering your purchases. protects in a 30x30 sorta circle I believe. Sucks down a lot of juice though, but hey you've got a nuclear reactor going so who cares!
I have 2 reactors in my design, probably not needed though. 3 cooling towers since I don’t have access to a pond or river. Still don’t know about turbines and Hv lines. Slowly getting it figured out

You'll eventually need space for a plutonium refinery, breeder reactor, etc.
Better to plan Big from the start

So 2 mk Vs or whatever the biggest size is? I have the refinery set up already and the research reactor but no breeder reactor. I guess I could use the second one to do that while the first one produces all the power I’ll post some screen shots later of my set up I made in a test world

V type reactor will need A LOT of uranium. Are you sure you would able to fuel it?

Plus breeder reactor would still provide A LOT of power. You need to plan how utilize it :)

just get one of the bigest ones or second biggest ones

they give 1.2x the uranium they use as plutonium thus being effectively perpetual motion

I have a mod called Omni drill, it’s kinda op but you can drill for stuff and set how much work it takes to extract XY and Z resources. I turned it all up to a pretty high amount so it’s not unreasonable but I’ll be trading and traveling a lot. My colony is pretty massive and I have a lot of silver and stuff I can just send off for stupid stuff.

I forgot the breeder reactor would produce power I thought it produced a minimal amount, right now under testing I got 650k watts of power from a full reactor. Need to figure out how to store all that and how many fuses id need lol, basically never have to turn anything off though which would be nice since I have a lot of air conditioning coolers etc that need powering and drill, lights, turrets etc.

It's very low as single Zeus able to output of 1MW and AFAIK V-type could fuel at least 2 Zeus...

I had it set up to connect to 4, and the load didn’t seem too high. Might have been running the X or whatever the highest is. I don’t know if I’m converting all that to actual energy or if I’m just wasting it since I had each turbine connected to 1 HV downregulator. That’s what the reactor panel said at least, this was with just uranium fuel
