Maps won't generate?

When I try to start a new colony, when I click "generate world" with any seed, the generating loading screen goes for a second or two, then I go back to the generate world menu.

I do use a modded game but no error log shows up to tell me what might be causing the problem. to make matter more confusing it worked fine last week with no major mod changes on my end so i'm baffled :(

i'm dyslexic and not really tech savy tbh so modding in general is a mystical art; can anybody out there help me track down the issue i really love this game and don't want to have to give up on it but after 12 hrs now of trying and failing i'm running out of ideas....

Usually a failure to generate the world map is tied into factions not loading properly. If you're running some mods together it can cause issues (like Vanilla Factions Expanded: Medieval along with FactionControl.) Having some of them update can cause issues as well (old heddiffs).

Depending on the size of your mod list you may have some work ahead of you, but a full un-install, folder deletion, re-installation, and re-subscribing to your favorite mods usually fixes it. Or you could go through your current mod list and see where the hang up is that way.
