a cleaning bug?? help plz?
so basically in rimworld, ppl get dirt on their shoes or feet or whatever if they step inside after being outdoors, right? so the game generates "dirt" and that can be stacked. the "cleaning" job is suppose to clean the dirt, therefore removing or decreasing the amount of dirt stacked at that tile, right?
but the thing is guys, i've had these really weird tiles that have "x-677 dirt" or "x-25 blood" on the tiles and when i assign a colonist to clean that up, the number INCREASES when they are cleaned.
Well, i kinda get the notion, being negative figures and all, but the prob. for this is that once i assign someone on cleaning duty, they just keep on cleaning that tile forever, not eating or sleeping or doing anything else really. They just clean until they are downed because of lack of sleep or starvation, So, does anyone have a solution to this type of thing? a dev mode action i dont know about or something?

I have ran into this issue a few times, I could not for the life of me figure out how to delete it with the dev tools but per the old post, opening the save file in a text editor and doing a Find for "<thickness>-" will find all the negative amounts, just set them to 1, save and reload and you will be fine. For me, it took a long time for it to appear again. Others were blaming a gardening mod, but I don't run that (I do run RuntimeGC, and can confirm you cannot use that to remove filth anymore).

Yes, disable mod or mods that cause this behavior.

Sounds like mods incompatibility.

This very much sounds like a mod error/bug .. try to open the bug list window to see if you get any error lines.

Maybe you just have the worst / slowest cleaners in the rimworlds lol. But probably what they said above.

There should be a dev mode command to remove dirt, I don't remember. I know one other person had this issue a few weeks ago and I think they were cleaning out the dirt by editing the save, but it kept happening. So you have to find whatever mod is causing it and figure out if it's a conflict or a buggy mod.

I don't know off the top of my head too many mods that deal with dirt. There's the floor mat mod, but it's pretty popular and if that was causing it I think more people would be talking about it. There's also the GCruntime mod which adds a command to clean dirt, I could see that accidentally setting dirt to negatives instead of cleaning them, but I don't use it so I'm not sure how likely that is.

@Astasia GC doesn't have the remove dirt function now, does it? It was on the a17 ver, but in b18 i can't find it.

It's still listed on the mod's workshop page as being a function (remove all filth in home area) and I've heard other people mention it, but like I said I don't use the mod and have no idea if it's changed recently or not.

RuntimeGC B18 you can only access Remove Filth from Home Area when Dev Mode is on first. As to OP it does sound like a bug in a mod, testing it in Dev Mode should show an error we might be able to fix if we can see the text.
The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question.

as i said above, the function to remove fith is still in RuntimeGC and I can confirm its there and working. You have to be in Dev Mode else it does not appear in the menu.

Just deconstruct and reconstruct the floor.

@StinkyMonkey Ah, so That's why it didn't appear! I didn't know i had to use dev mode. thanks! I'll give it a try.

@Naid That might work on 'dirt' types, but there is negative figures of 'blood'type filth too. I was hoping for a more fundamental solution, but thanks a lot anyways for looking into this thing!

@StinkyMonkey the 'Remove FIlth' doesn't seem to remove negative figures of filth, it seems. :(

aah righto i see, genuinely thought it would hit any tile listed as having a dirt layer on it. negative dirt is an odd one.
