How to disable defenses?
I want infantry vs infantry battles. How do I disable mortars and turrets. I like sandbags but I cannot figure out how disable them at enemy bases and missions.
Any help is appreciated.
Just to be clear I don't want methods of destroying them or cutting off their electricity.
I want a method to stop them from spawning.

Maybe disabling their technology in the scenario editor?....

You will need ALSO remove siege raids or will encounter errors when they spawn (they will try to spawn mortars or other eglible long-range cannons and if you don't have one you will get errors or even crash).

That can be easily done - look for something like a Turtle mod and fix it how you would like.

Which option is that?

hi. You can try this mod and see if it works. I haven't test it yet so I am not sure, although it should work. This mod should disable turret from spawning at enemy outpost for mission, but it wont be able to disable turrets from spawning in hostile colony.

Me again. And you know what my suggestion is going to be.

Use the dev console to delete the mortars and turrets. Voila! Infantry battle.

Pretty sure you can limit faction tech levels in the scenario editor, then you could manually change the tech level on turrets and mortars to spacer and restrict factions from spacer tech.

I've limited experience with the scenario editor. I do what I need with various mods. (This may or may not work, since enemy bases may just plop down mortars and turrets instead of looking at the research reqs.) Take a look and see if it can be done there. As corisai said, you'd need to do something with sieges as well. Wouldn't take much effort to twiddle a few XML files to see if it is feasible, then you could make it a mod if you wanted.

I've been doing that and it's annoying.

I've never seen that and I just double checked. Is it under the "add part" section

The official ludeon forums have tutorials on how to use the scenario editor.

I know how to use the scenario editor and I've looked at the tutorial also. I haven't seen anything saying I can tweak a fractions tech level.

The tutorials only give the basics, the rest you have to figure out for yourself. If you can't figure it out, then download a mod that does it for you. Yes, there ARE mods that change or limit tech levels, don't say their aren't because there absolutely is.

crgzero and Preechr have misled you; There are no scenario parts that can limit the technology or items available to other factions in the game, only your own. You will need mods for what you are trying to do.

If that's the case, Sorry about that. As I said, I haven't played around with the scenario editor that much, but I have seen older posts where it was stated this was possible. I'll look when I get home and see if I can find something.
