But, so would a campfire(s). (IF you had wood.)
https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Geothermal_generator
The heat may not be constant and may spike, so it's a bit unpredictable. And, if you have a Geothermal Generator, you already have power for a bunch of easily controllable Heaters.
PS- Ice Sheet/extreme players use them for heating needs. It's just sporadic. The vent itself can also provide some heating, IIRC. Again, though, it's "spikey" so not easy to use.
The gyser vented to the baths would not heat the room up enough to get rid of the cold water debuff, but interestingly enough, in the boreal summers of balmy 65°F, the bathhouse would become 190°F saunas and baths would give a cold bath buff instead.
I'll have to dig up that screenshot when I get the chance.
Yes, I'll usually build greenhouses (not hydroponics, just leaving the ground bare inside and using a sunlamp) over the geothermal generators that are out in the map, away from my main base. This is of great benefit because:
1: Now there's a solid wall between any raiders and my fragile, valuable generators.
2: My greenhouse gets free heating
3: My greenhouse is still getting power even if the conduit between it and my base gets severed
4: My greenhouse is still heated even if there's a solar flare
I'll typically use those greenhouses for slower growing crops, like haygrass, healroot, or devilstrand.
Hygiene requires you to connect a wood/gas/electric water heater and a hot water tank before that cold water debuff will go away.
It also says on the homepage that you can use campfires early on

Ha! Never knew that. Pretty cool, but I've gotten used to letting them wash in the creek until I can build proper bathrooms. The run I'm on now I actually didn't build anything at all until I had started to research septic tanks, so by the time the bathrooms were finished the toilets were working. Nobody cared enough to have a hissy over having to poop on the floor lol.
