Traders? Visitors? Where they gone?!
I've just sat through two sessions of 3 hours each on two different colonies and not seen one trader or visitor (using hospitality A16)...has Wanderlust Expansion totally killed them all? :} Or is there a bug somewhere?

Gotta just be rng. I sometimes get two factions visiting at the same time. I also set up close to four friendly faction bases and 3 enemy bases so I think that adds to the volume.

Do you still have allies? (In faction, someone in green)
If yes, this is random.
Even on a15 you could get any trader for multiple seasons...
If you got a LOT items you use the comm or made a caravane.

i have experienced the same with hospitality a16.
my guestroom was used 0 times in about 15days, need to test more today.

maybe it is caused from extra factions (cthulu, rimsenal, orrassans)

Yes, I have at least two factions in green. Trouble is, once I sent out a caravan with not enough food...colonists died half way there, and once, sent them out on Tundra without adequate clothing and they died of hypothermia. Lol! Just can't win with caravanning. If colony is small, I can't afford to lose the people like this just to get trade. But no-one is coming to the base, no escape pods...thinking the lack of visitors/traders must be a mod conflict happening somewhere. Just initialised Hospitality A16, and Set Up Camp Mod (for caravan stops). Going to have to restart again to test. Something is not right.

same BS for me, after some time trading caravans and orbital traders is very rare events. (relations is 100%)
vanilla game

A16 greatly reduced visitor events. The new update for Hospitality should fix it, to a degree.

@OP

With the vanilla game it seems to happen often, it tends to be really random.

Sometimes a month goes by with nothing...other times I get 2 in the same day.

Seems like you do get some trade but the game expects you to call in traders now or use the caravans to get more.

I have seen, early on I get a steady flow of traders, after a year or so, it stops cold. The only way I can get a trader is to use comms and ask for one. I had 3 other tribes in green 2 red. Paying to get a trader blows, plus I wasted alot of cash on paying to make them like me more, with no effect other than the numbers went up.

Hospitality A16 does seem to have improved the traders somewhat, Orion, but I had one set of visitors on the Tundra and then no more. I'm in Year 22 on this game now, completely fresh start. I have three factions in green numbers. Something, somewhere is off with the new version of the game since A16 in general. It does make sense that any visits to my colony are reduced by the expansion in order to encourage that we travel more, onto the world map.

However, the little guys just cannot carry enough to be able to take the required food, and the trade goods, or the trip is worthless. Unless I am doing something completely wrong...which is always possible. As an aside, if anyone has any other suggestions about surviving travel across the Tundra successfully, then do let me know. :} I have tried the 'Set Up Camp Mod', but after play testing with that, I think it might have been conflicting with Hospitality A16. Once I removed it, things improved a little on the same game, but it's still not nearly enough.

As Capn Squiggles Prime has mentioned, perhaps the problem for me is setting up base in too remote a location, too far from any other outposts of civilisation? I try to land near enough some friendly outposts but they are always heavily surrounded by hostiles camps too. Not liking my chances of getting through there without being waylaid by brigands.

Last thing to add, after reading over replies again: calling in traders costs way too much silver. I use Medieval mod to have access to the Crafting Table, to make puzzle boxes, stuffed dolls and drinking cups for sale, but I need to have made a lot before any trader comes in order to have enough for sale, and to make enough silver just for my shopping needs alone...then to have to chuck 600 silver away just for a random trader to come? Chasing my tail, more like.

If they like you enough, calling a trader cost 300 and not 600.
Personnally, I call them when I am too lazy to use caravane and my
stockpiles are full... But I don't care that much about silver, I mostly do it
to empty my storage a little and I do it when I am really full of items without trader
for a long time (and when I do use caravane, 2/3 of the time, a trader come
when my high social girl is already gone with all my items. Grrrr!!!)

My current game has had no trader events whatsoever. I can't say for orbital traders since at the moment I'm stonewalled with steel at the moment. I am playing on Randy Random so that's one thing. I've played the other two storytellers tweaked and I don't see a major change.
Orion Jan 10, 2017 @ 3:05am
One thing I can contribute is that all the social events are driven by the storytellers. Look at their definitions. It could be that some are not triggering social events at all or very rarely.

It's probably a mod, if you have any installed. It may also be location on the map; from what I've seen closer tribes trade more. Not sure if this is legit or my immagination, but it seems to be so as of one game of about 30ish hours in.
