Update deleted my saved games

The game was just updated and the update erased all of my saved games.

There have been multiple announcements that the A16 update would make previous saves incompatible. To recover them, just go to the game's properties in Steam and set the beta to the A15 release.

I set my game from A15 to unstable branch. Shouldn't this be A16 already?

Rule of thumb on any EA games. From every major update expect your save files to be incompatible, don't get too attached.

Good luck keeping your save file even if you were set to Alpha 15 branch. I had it set that way and Steam decided that it knew better than I did. Lost a colony with 20+ hours, and I'm just ♥♥♥♥ out of luck.

Also, can't recreate because most of the mods aren't compatible either.

So, TLDR; totally hosed on a save I liked. Freakin' great.

Just set it back to A15. The game never deletes your saves for any reason, they are still there.

Problem. Mod mismatch, so it's blown up and cant recover.

A lot of modders still offer a Alpha15 version of their mods. Take a look if you can find them.

I was able to recover only some of my games, my main issue now actually is that half of the time I can't get the people to do anything. I start up a game, no mods, just normal crash landed colonist, I have them start to build a shelter and they just walk around. I grab one of them to right click to prioritze building, and there's literally no option for it. I quit, say F it to the game, and then later on in the week try again, no issues. Save, quit, come back, all of a sudden same issue, I can't tell them to do anything.
