Keeping rooms at a steady TEMP (year round)
Okay, so the title is pretty self explanatory.

I`m getting a bit tired of micromanaging my rooms all the time. With heaters and coolers etc during the different seasons.
My base is getting pretty huge and my rooms are kinda scattered (Cook lives near kitchen, taoiler lives near workbench ETC ETC)

Now these rooms are not connected, but I still want all those rooms to have a constant 20degrees Celcius all year round. Without having to micro EVERY room with heaters and coolers.

What is an effective practice to keeping indiviual rooms to a constant temprature?

(I tried adding BOTH a heater and a cooler in 1 room then setting both to 21Celcius. But this simply doesnt work. They`ll start conflicting with each other constantly consuming HIGH energy)

Now unless there is no other way ?? I was hoping you could tell me :D
shout out to the vetrans! How do you do it ?

Probably best to set your heat/cool so they overlap and have a range between they go for, so you might have the cooling kick in when temp is at X+2 and the heat kick in when temp is at X-2, so there's a bit of play since it's really unlikely you'll keep a constant temp anyways.

Beyond that, you can use vents between rooms to help spread temp control around and you'll need multiple heaters/coolers as you're total area increases (usually doesn't matter where they are if you have a good "vent network"

Using two sets of doors anywhere that temperature extremes need managed can help as doors tend to bleed temp a bit. Obvious example is using "airlock" type double door setups to get into your freezer. But depending on outdoor temps it might be good for any external doorways as well.

Plenty of internal vents and a major heating/cooling network. Heater network is set to heat to 18 degrees, cooler is set to cool when above 23

These networks are separate from your main electrical network and from each other and are connected by aa pair of switches. In hot season, flick the switch and completely turn off all heater in one click. In cold season, flick the other switch. In spring/autumn, use both.

Basically make a room that surrounds and connects every other room on your base, it can be a walkway or it can be a dedicated "duct" just for air control. Control the temperature of that one room to something a bit above or below the temperature you want based on the season, and vent it into every other room with enough vents so they reach your actual target temperature.

TBH it's not worth the effort. You are better off using multiple heaters and coolers around your base and giving them enough variance so they don't fight each other. A heater trying to maintain 18C and a cooler trying to maintain 22C for example. They wont conflict with each other at all and it will keep your rooms roughly the temp you want.

I personally jjust go over kill. Everyone basically ends up with their own heater/ac I build thick walls at least 3 blocks deep. Venting linking it all together. Rooms like fridge and beer making room get its own temp no vents. I also make use of the heat thermal generators give off. Open them in witner close the doors in summer.

Ahhh thank you EVERYONE! this is great information. The error I made is that I set BOTH cooler and heater to 21degrees in an attempt to main that temprature. But now I set heater to 19 and cooler to 22 and this seems to be working perfectly. Some rooms are connected to so I made sure I vented everything.

tested it and so far....it seems to be worrking pretty ok! Thanks!

(ONly downside is....VERY resource heavy. Like lots of steel and atleast 3 components for every cooler) Late game sure...but early to mid game these set ups might be too expensive.

Anyways, CHEERS!

EDIT: NO NEED TO ADD FURTHER INFORMATION ! MY QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED
3 components per cooler? Was the cost increased in A16?
you can try to plan your base carefully so you can install power switches for variable temperature components. 1 for var cold, 1 for var heat. But its kinda tough not to overlap power conduits.

I also build double walls - think I read somewhere very early on that this also helps to insulate the rooms from outside temps - I usually build the rooms next to each other with double walls, add vents between them, then set a heater on one end and an a/c on the other. I never need to tweak anything, but the main key is to pick an environment where the temp doesn't get extremely hot or cold...

Personally I use my interior halways as the primary temperature transfer system. The hallway network is all one huge room, insulated from the outside and the freezers by double walls and double sets of doors. With the exception of the coolers for the freezers most, if not all, coolers and heaters dump into the hallways and are set, as suggested, to have a narrow range in which they are neither heated nor cooled.
