Giving everyone bionics
I've some spare manpower and materials and I'm considering giving all my colonists bionic arms, legs and spine. My question is this; Is it cost effective (more or less) to do this, and does this contribute to the wealth of the settlement?

The raids are getting worse and I'm spending a lot of time defending and clearing up after than doing productive or happy stuff. I'm hoping using up my materials will drop my wealth somewhat. I had 10 bionic spines made and ready to install.

Yes...
Yes it is.
If you can afford to do that do it XD
Arms makes them work faster, legs makes them move faster, eyes improves almost everything they do including shooting and so on.
So you get a payoff.
Or they could take a headshot in the next raid. It's always a gamble, but yes, enhansed colonists are super :p

Oh Hell Yes it is.
Make the animals bionic too while you're at it

Spines are my first choice of bionic upgrades since they enhance both movement and manipulation with one part. Go ahead and install them :)

Start deep mining and purchasing gold for advanced components if you want to jump up to advanced bionics.

I do have one worker with two bionic arms, spine and lvl 20 crafting. Needless to say he is confined at home most of the time. Okay, surgery room is now open.

Don't items in your stockpile still count towards the colony's wealth? If so, then hoarding expensive bionics and not using them would be the worst possible strategy.

This might be a way to lure in larger attacks, if that's what you wanted.

I plan to install them and not hoard them. So my idea is to spend considerable resources on bionics in order to reduce the wealth of the colony.

bionic eyes on your main shooters is well worth it...snipers especially seem to have great accuracy. The legs are also just a great productivity booster since they zip around everywhere. Just make sure their personality isn't against bionics because they will be sad.

That's usually a non-issue by the time you get to bionics. +10 from lavish meals alone offsets it and then some.
