Use for gold
By virtue of deep drilling I now have enough gold to craft a melee weapon or small sculpture or maybe even a piece of furniture but I'm not sure what would be best to make.

I'm leaning away from a weapon because they can degrade and I could guess it won't be as effective as plasteel.

Art or furniture are interesting options maybe even gold tiles for the floor.

Just looking for a second opinion from someone who has spent precious resources before.

PS. Uranium weapons?

if you make some really good quality art , it will boost its value a lot , and endup costing really really a lot yelding you lots money , but its alweys a risk as even good artist with 15+ skills can screwup

The only real use of gold is either for art or as tiles since for furnature wood will tkae care of basically everything you need for beauty and while I have never attemtped to make a weapon out of gold I would have to agree that plasteel would still be a better choice.

Still even for floor tiles don't you still only get a +2 to beauty which means it is still worse than just smoothing or just using carpets which give the same value and come in a variety of colors.

So ya it seems art is really the only way to go unless some other people have more information on what they could use gold for?

I thought you can just get Jade and steel from the ground

Crafting skills arn't an issue, don't have any Godlike Construction workers though. I was afraid that gold tiles like silver would be only +2 beauty, kinda lame because I'm trying to see how nice of a dining room I can manage. Art it is.

On another note so far I have found Jade Steel Gold Uranium and Silver from deep drilling, was hoping for plasteel as my map seems to have none of it...

A golden toilet is what i always wanted to have xD
as person who played rimworld gold , and silver is mostly used to rise value of the rooms , it dont offers much boost of beuty to justufy it cost

its basicly swag , and also good quality will sell for more especialy good quality and with good trader

Similary , if you buy worst quality furniture from silver , gold , and jade(also i think applies to platsteel) , you can smelt them and you get more "recource"then its value meaning such crafting of fancy statue to make money , will be cheaper

If you want the high thermal conductivity you should probably go for diamond (only dirt poor peasants use copper heatsinks)

Carpet and stone tiles are +2 beauty, silver is +3, gold +4.

Gold Tile is literally the only vanilla floor tile that I have never built because its human instinct to horde gold.

I don't craft anything in gold till mid game. I leave my artist working with rock blocks and chunks till he maxes his skill out, then I craft small golden statues. I break apart all statues under excellent and recraft them. A masterwork statue gives around 500 beauty. Now you wanna be careful with crafting with gold because it will raise the wealth of your collony and your collony wealth determines the size of enemy raids. You wanna have a solid defence before mass producing or mining gold.

I saw someone here made their colony completely out of gold :steamhappy: .
While I'm not as enriched enough to have that much gold, I just use it to build the multi analyzer or useful structures, and then, I just horde it :steammocking: .

Do you lose any gold by dismantling a gold statue?

Highly likely you lose resources dismantling just about anything, how much is the question.

Sometimes you lose nothing but you usually lose something.
