Do manhunting animals lose interest after a while?
Well, I started with 1 person, with no start items. Crafted a bow so far and got a manhunting squirrel right at the start. I don't think I'll get away fighting it without getting hurt at least. Do they give up after a while, so I could just sit them out in my shelter, or do I have to kill that little beast and take the injuries?

After around 1.5 days when it really needs rest, the manhunter animal will go to sleep. At that time, it may still wake up being a manhunter if you attack it, but if you let it sleep through and wake up on its own, it will lose the manhunter status.

Early on, that is one reason I like to make and store food inside the housing area. If something too tough comes on manhunter, I'll just stay inside, research and eat, until the danger is over.

If your one colonist does get hurt, be sure to click on self-tend so that he can help himself get better.

Thanks, that's good info. I've got enough food inside to get through 1.5 days, so that's fine.

There is no more self heal, so you cannot afford to risk a single scratch, in case it gets infected. Until you can recruit more pawns, preferably a medic, then you'll have to avoid any risk of injury. That includes a revenge event if and when you hunt something, let alone manhunter.

Wait what? I've not played in a couple of days, was self heal patched out?

Self-tend is still in the game. I'm not sure what grapplehoker is on about?

It is located in another spot now. I agree, when I first looked for it, it was missing from its previous location in A17 (which I recall was at the bottom of the health tab, I think). Now in B18, it is in the Health Tab above the line that lets you set how that colonist gets medical care.

It never esxisted until b18

The self tend option was an A17 feature. They only changed was what was said before, the option moved locations but it was always there.

Heh... yes, my bad. I was mistaken.
I had looked for the Self Tend option at the bottom of the Health tab, which is where it was located in A17 and as of B18 it is now a little smaller and at the top, and so I missed it ;)

That said, I would still advise avoid injuries at all costs until you can recruit another with medical skill. Even with self tend as an option, if you are solo and your injuries (including infection) are such that reduce your consciousness to a level that you cannot tend yourself, then you're toast ;)
