Colony expansion into other tiles
I am 100% sure this has been probably asked multiple times. It would be so cool to be able to assemble some of my colonists as "migrants" and give them certain resources to move to tiles nearby or even attack other colonies to take theirs, so that we could estabilsh a supply line to exchange local resources. Otherwise the meaning of generating a large world would be quite pointless since we only use one tile (which is indeed big enough for now though)

Raise the max number in game options. You can change that in an already running game. Just like storyteller and difficulty.

In the game options, click on allowing multiple colonies.

An alternative is the Setup Camp mod. It allows you to make a camp in another tile, which can basically become another colony, usually a supply colony. The main difference, I think, is that events won't happen in this camp colony, whereas with vanilla multiple colonies, *I think* they would all experience events, including raids. Someone can confirm this if they have tried multiple colonies.

Also, I'm not sure if each colony will be able to get its own set of 10 or 20 colonists (up to the population max). Someone can confirm this if they have tried multiple colonies.

I know with the camp mod, you have the same set of colonists, since it's not quite treated as a different colony. In other words, you are splitting up your work force and defense force, without necessarily getting more colonists, if you go make camps into other tiles.

^ Are you sure camp sites don't experience events ?

I've tried multiple colonies, but that was many, many hours ago. What I remember about it is even though each colony only had 4 or 5 pawns, after a while it was just too much for me to keep up with. Events/Raids did happen on each colony, but I don't remember any of them happening at the same time...more like, "Cold snap" begins on colony 1, then 2 days later a raid occurs at colony 2.

Just recently I happened across a Rimworld live stream on youtube where the dude had max colonies (5) going at the same time. Some of the colonies had like 15-20 people and others had 4-8 people. That would make my brain esplode...

What you are looking for is the "form Caravan" button. Just open the world map, click on your colonie and click the button.
Then you can choose pawns and items that sould leave the map and go exploring...
