Pemmican vs Kibble for Pets
I have a dilema, I am trying to keep a few animals..about 5-6 for egg/dog reasons. I noticed the pets eat anything.

Is it better for me to prepare and feed them Pemmican vs Kibble? I noticed Kibble is more resources AND humans can not eat it.

I am still struggling to get a healthy food economy for my people 1 year in, still on simple meals

Kibble allows more types of plant matter... namely hay. Also kibble is actually more efficient than pemmican. It takes more, but you make more.

I have to agree. Not only that, but it also won't expire.

Kibble for animals easily. If you want to keep lots of animals produce hay.

I have 7 dogs and 25 chickens right now. The chickens eat raw hay and the dogs eat kibble (made with insect/ human meat and hay)

Also, simple meals are fine. You really never need to make anything more for people

Had a colony that lived off berries..

Kibble allows you to turn excess meat, usually human or insect, into non-spoiling food for animals that usually don't eat meat. Simple meals allow you to turn crops into food for animals that usually don't eat vegetation. Otherwise there's not much point for either. Haygrass is more than fine for most vegetarians and omnivores, and raw corpses/meat or hunting is usually fine for carnivores. You gain extra nutrition by preparing the food, but preparing food for any sizeable amount of animals is nowhere near worth the effort, I find.

I make a continuous supply of kibble for my herd. There's plenty of grass in the animal zone for them, so there's never a worry about starvation. I do it more to develop cooking skill.

Is there a benefit in feeding kibble asopposed to hay for herbivores?

No, animals don't care what they eat and get no benefit from eating anything specific. It's all the same to them, as long as they can eat it.

Having a freezer full of enemy corpses will do the trick for meat eater.

Try telling that to my alcoholic dog that pukes all day in the livingroom until it passes out.
