Way to assign cleaning areas?
I know that my colonists will clean anything in the home area but the problem with that is its also the only way to get them to fight fires automatically. so if i delete home area for a remote geothermal plant and a fire starts around it, if its in the home area it gets dealt with, if its not it burns down unless i make them do it manually. mainly its the power conduits to these areas that are the problem. i dont want to asign them as home areas because then it becomes a problem for someone cleaning up the ouside enviroment at extremely remote locations and taking up the majority of their productivity. the obvious solution is just to add an area for cleaning and for fire fighting. and while youre at it just get rid of home area and make gathering areas and trader areas.. i mean why not?

sorry but ive had one too many bad experiences with unofficial mods in this game. the problems arise because i am using the largest areas possible and the mods have created bugs in save files and crashes that i dont seem to get in vanilla mode

That mod I just mentioned defaults to cleaning the home area, so it works just like vanilla until you want to change things up and clean less. Then just select any zone you have setup via an icon near where the icon toggles are located in lower right.

At some point you may run out of zones you can setup, then use this mod:

Fair enough. Getting mods setup/ordered correctly isn't always the easiest thing.

Create a new inverted area, remove the remote geo area from it, assign your cleaners to that area.

geothermals wont make fire unless u trap the heat inside. if its open air will never catch fire unless a raider sets it on fire

surround your geothermal with stone walls. If it breaksdown destory one of the walls and reassign home area.

I would highly recommend this mod too. It's great because it only restricts the cleaning area but still allows your pawn to have a completely different set allowed area....so they can still venture all over the map but only clean in your base if you want....very helpful.
