How to play island maps (edit: look with links below in replies) :)
I keep trying to make an island, but every time I make it and unpause the game deep water over runs the island. In a 15 tile radius I removed all deep water, put rough granite land in, built granite mountains all around the island and the game makes deep water automatically take over the island. I do NOT want to remove all the water, because I want an island.

Is there any mod or anything I can do to fix this? As someone who only wants to survive on an island, this is game breaking for me. I love islands in games and real life, but even with all mods deactive, I can't make an island because deep water keeps overrunning it. So its definitely a game problem. What can I do to turn that incredibly annoying mechanic off? China builds islands in deep water, and the technology in rimworld is more advanced and has space ships, so I should be able to build islands too lol. I think they made it that way to prevent people building islands for some weird reason, but it isn't very realistic when people build islands in the middle of the ocean in real life.

Thanks :) can't play till figure out how to fix this.

Also, I'm family sharing the game from my 2nd steam account, hence no mouse icon :P In case people commented on that part.

yeah Cause you're not suppose to be in dev mode....
ergo- You're not suppose to mess around with the deepwater.
Get the bridge mod and build on tier 2 bridges.

The caption is contradictory, Dev Mode is game breaking by itself.

And I'm going to almost guarentee you that there isn't a mod for that, on the grounds that removing deep water would be quite game breaking.

I don't know why it would be doing that for you. I use dev mode to alter the terrain cosmetically all the time and have never had it revert like that. Is the deep water you are trying to clear "flowing" deep water? That terrain might have issues with dry land being next to it, I dunno. Could try using non-flowing deep water and shallow water as a buffer.

Otherwise, there's a mod to get island maps.

And another mod that lets you change terrain through gameplay rather than using dev mode, including builadable deep water, and the ability to convert deep water into other terrain.

Oh wow. Both those are exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks for being actually helpful lol. Kept getting trolls who I guess hate islands or something, dunno. Or just trolling lol. Anyway, thanks :) Especially the archipelagos is exactly what I'm looking for...2nd one is obviously a bonus too :)

thanks :D

you just outed yourself as a troll. Someone already helped out, the topic is finished with that post. and yet you still post ranting away and harassing me when the topic was already solved. I will no longer be responding to you, since Astasia already solved my problem and now this thread is already done since don't need help anymore.

Feel free to keep ranting away though. I'll probably wake up in the morning and laugh that you are still randomly trolling a thread that is already done with lol. I'll be busy playing Rimworld :)

You also dont understand ">wordswordswords".
Also i love you're "HOLIER THEN THOU" act, have fun on your island boy-o, dont forget about your 5th grade math test :D

Trolls = Everyone else who is trying to explain to you how the game works

The part about everyone else being a troll is just simply not needed, you have your problem solved, why start a flame war?

Especially because they're explicitly banned according to the Steam discussion rules. (Visible when you go to Community -> Discussions at the top of the page, and (I assume) elsewhere).

Was so annoyed spending so much time on it. But that isn't a reason to be so rude to come to the forums. People were just trying to help and say dev mode is buggy/broken.

In any case, the above mods are great. They've really expanded the game. So been enjoying that. And while there has been no posts for quite a few hours, I just wanted to apologize. Sorry for being so rude to the people just trying to help

Don't worry! We all feel that way sometimes, and most of us would be liars if we said we never unjustly got mad at someone while we were upset.

I know this is an older thread, but I honestly don't look much at the Steam discussions, and wanted to throw out a possible explanation for the weird behavior you were seeing that started this thread in the first place.

I haven't specifically tested this, but many events in the game -- trader and visitor arrival, animal spawning, even plant regrowth -- depend upon having edges that can be "crossed." That's why even "island" maps in the vanilla game have only one side that's actually coast. When you used dev mode to place deep water along all four edges of your map, my guess would be that the game "freaked out" because you'd inadvertently broken all of those things. ;)

And on a side note, I'm glad you're finding my mods helpful!
