do excess clothes in summer make pawns hot?
I see some clothes give both heal and cool insulation. But for ones that give only heat insulation, like jackets, does having them on during summer make your pawns? like should i try to force them to take them off?

Yes, it does usually help to have both hot weather and separate cold weather wear...HOWEVER, I've found that except for some extreme conditions, your pawns will be fine wearing shirt, pants, duster and cowboy hat.

A cold front in winter or some other events can change that, but if you have warm weather gear on hand your're fine.

The only thing you should have to force off is parkas. If you have a huge temp swing, you might make parkas and dusters, and then just unselect one of them in your colonists default clothing setting. you its just a couple of clicks when a season changes.

If the changes arent that drastic maybe just use one. In warmer climates I just use dusters all of the time. I think jackets are great for an even tempature where you get a fair summer and a mild winter.

The biggest thing tho, is to be carefull what you make clothes out of. The very best all around textile for tempature is Camel wool. It provides good stats to cold and heat. I will even send caravans to the desart just to get some dormadorys for my colony. Great pack animals, Best wool, Give milk. Win Win Win

Tuques also have a negative max heat insulation. Tuques and parkas should really only be worn on maps that are always well below 0. Things like jackets though, no, wearing them in summer doesn't make pawns hot, but wearing a duster would be better (jackets are useless).

They're also good on maps that are only occasionally below 0. There are some spots with reasonable summers and quite cold winters.

Look at the lower case i for info on each particular piece of clothing. You'll see if it is a postive or negative (and how much) to either hot, cold, or both.

A decent duster should be able to handle temps a fair bit below 0. The main problem with parkas and why you want to avoid wearing them if at all possible is the large workspeed debuff they have.

Yeah, in my current Tundra game, it can reach -30 in the winter and it can reach +20 in the summer. Just so i don't get the debuffs all the time from the parka, I have seperate summer and winter outfits.

That wasnt really what I meant, but thanks all for the responses. I was mainly getting at my current game in extreme desert where it can get 90c. Im wondering if stripping down naked is better than continuing to wear clothes like basic shirts which only help against cold. Like does keeping those on me make me warmer than I otherwise would be vs naked if the clothes does not have heat protection. Or does it not matter?

In that case, Dusters with T-shirt and either a bowling hat or a cowboy hat are the best, but it's still a bad idea to be outside for too long in that temperature.

a wool duster of good quality will go as low as -20c maybe more and high as 60c

It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is the clothing stats, if it doesn't say it reduces max comfortable temperature then it doesn't reduce max comfortable temperature.
