Use a sunlamp. And if it gets cold in your biome you'll need a heater as well. You can basicly make a green house in this fashion but it has to be built over dirt, you can't bring dirt into it.

Using the same grid pattern as when you have the sun lamp and hydroponics basin, just plant your plants directly into soil that is enclosed in a room, but don't need the basin. The benefit of this is that you can grow anything in the soil, and if its a tree farm, it will also grow grass for your animals.

As the others point out, you have to either built a greenhouse on existing soil, or use mods that let you add mulch to floors to do it inside of a mountain.

Try to plan ahead, build your fridge in a way so that the exhaust from the cooling unit will exit into your indoor farm. The heat exhaust from a single cooler should be enough to heat a grow room with at least three sunlamps, I do this in every game I start.

In vanilla you can't, you have to build the room over farmable soil.

There are a couple mod that let you create soil.

If you start on a dustbowl / arid environment you can grow crops all year (barring weather disasters)
