Colonist throwing parties
Hey guys,
I have been playing 60 days now in game and no parties have been thrown. I have killed all the mechs but still no parties? when do coloist actually throw a party? does it need to be friendly with everyone to throw one? how does it work?

They do I don't know the inner workings of it. There is a party spot thing you can make(it's similar to the sleeping spot) Make sure you go to a table and check of gathering spot(also recommend building a party spot in such room unless you want it else where)

Just wait until they throw a party with people dying at the medbay.

colonists with high social skills are more likely to throw a party than colonists with low social skills. I think partys also might be more likely to happen on randy random, but not sure of that. whats your highest social skill of your pawns?

"AYY JIMMY WAIT HERE I JUST GOTTA GO DRINK THIS BEER WITH THE REST OF THE COLONY" *leaves patient with an open chest*
The best is when the party-thrower insults a guest and gets knocked unconscious, bringing the party to an abrupt end.

My colony grows alot of smokeweed and they seem to party all the time. Seriously, the rice crop is rotting in the fields while they throw yet another party. Social skills on a couple characters are 17+ right now.
5 out of my current 9 colonists are incapable of social... probably explains why I haven't seen any parties (or even the wedding of my only romantically involved couple, who have been engaged for some time).

Hey guys thanks for the replies, maybe it has to do with my social skill the highest is 10 and the rest are under 5 (hopefully that is it) my high level social colonist died from a deer antler to the head :'( RIP
I also have this one guys that is too smart, insomniac and psychopath, that cant seem to like anyone, he dislikes one person and then the rest of the colonist hes just at 0 with them all ,weird. Is that normal? PS: that's the colonist that that has the highest social skill, i'm screwed haha.
Do you guys think that if he doesn't like anyone he will be less inclined in throwing parties as well? cheers <3

Psychopaths don't get better relations and stuff by socializing from what I've seen.

Turn on dev mode - turn off fog of war - is there another ancient danger room on the map (I've seen 2 on several maps) inside a mountain maybe?

Did you get to name your colony? if not then there almost certainly is because that is the bug.

huh, I noticed after about 11 years I couldnt remember the last party despite having a socialite... then I cracked open an ancient danger that had been hidden in mountain and all of a sudden I was told to finally name my colony etc hehe.. guess I just assumed for some reason I had already done it yet somehow chose new arrivals :P

what exactly is the bug ?

Edit: oh, also I got two weddings straight after that, lol... was another thing that had me scratching my head... people just constantly engaged :)

I think the issue is with mechs being on the map, the game treats you as perpetually in a raid state.... this must prevent social events.
Interesting side note is I got 3 prison breaks during parties and am thinking this may be a thing.... "Hey they are distracted... lets make for the exits/armory"... or am just unlucky.

Yep, it's a bug that was introduced in A17.

ah, now that you mention it, there were a few centipedes guarding the crypto caskets heh.... what a nasty bug.

I mean this was in the middle of a mountain, just eventually happened on it by chance... if Id started base anywhere else on map I would probably never have figured it out :)

am still gutted over the caskets... for some reason I felt maybe they were worth keeping around for a bit instead of dismantling (think there were 8)... randy threw in an infestation there before I had even managed to get out the dead bodys though... boom boom boom hehe

may have helped since alot of them caught on fire... and expensive way to do it though :(

hey i saw that bug already and i already got to name my colony, people are getting married (well once) and i do get elections from the leadership mod. So on that end i am good but its just weird that my colonist dont feell like throwing parties at all, maybe i just have to wait it out.
