how do you stockpile corpses?
what the title says. i'v heard people talking about how you can assign different stockpiles for stockpiling different things, but thats untrue. i'v tried everything, and you can't. recently my hunter killed a squirrel, and its not going into the stockpile.

Did you assign corpses to the stockpile? Normally a hauler will take the corpse to any stockpile that is assigned them and the corpse isn't forbidden.

Go to the stockpile. there is a setting tab. In it is the priority of the stockpile, and what is allowed in it. You have to checkmark corpses to allow it.

You'll probably want to also make sure you don't have "allow rotten" checked. Have another, lower priority stockpile that does allow rotting corpses in a more out of the way spot so they won't walk past them that often. This will also allow them to move the corpses from your good stockpile if they go rotten before you get around to using them.

ah, thanks. can i just ask, why would you put the stockpile out of the way? does it affect their happiness or something? sorry, i only got the game yesterday.

Most dumping stockpile items (chunks, corpses) have a massive negative impact on bueaty and unburied human corpses give a mood debuff as well.

Yeah burn the bodies or use graves

If you do use stockpiles make sure it's out of sight

I personally use the mass grave mod

but yeah just keep in mind everytime your haul hauls bodies to the stockpile it's a real mood hit and you need to go out of your way to keep happy at times.

use a far off cave or build a far away room , add a stockpile , select "allow human corpses" "allow rotten" and priority low.

if you want to use a neat trick you can make a restrictive zone including all the map with exception of this mass corpse room and set your pawns to that with exception of psychopaths they dont get a debuff when observing rotting corpses so they can haul them away/burn them in campfires with no - mood hit.

The next stockpile option over in the list is 'dumping stockpile', that's specifically there for dumping bodies and rock chunks and the like, and has corpses checked by default.

Yeah burn the bodies or use graves
There is just one problem: You can't limit graves to ONLY rotten corpses so at best you can set it to burn/bury corpses at 90% HP, which means that you both lose good meat/leather (e.g. corpses killed in an explosion) and end up keeping ugly corpses around until they have rotted enough.

Stockpiles on the other hand have priorities which allow you to remove ugly corpses immediately without losing any meat.
