Should I use a Megasloth as an attack animal?

I literally just got one just now with a 1% chance. Pretty stoked. Anyways, is it worth risking them as an attack animal when you draft?

Congrats ! They're excellent attack pets. But their wool is the real price. I personally never any animals as attack animals because I'd require tons of micromanagement to avoid friendly fire assuming you've got 9 out of 10 colonists with assault rifles like me. Train them in hauling and watch them earn their keep that way :)

I suppose you could effectively use it in some cases, such as tribes or chasing fleeing enemies. Or once (and big if) they've made it inside your base. I have to refer you to someone else for best ways to go about using them.

if you can get it into melee it can do a lot of damage
but its a big animal so its 200% chanse to get hit will mean it rarely gets close enough and will catch most of your bullets, providing more benefit for your enemy then you

They are good attack animals but i usually support them with another animal. I tend to boar spam, and have megasloths/rhinos/bears/elephants as heavy artilery with the animal front. i noticed that the pros of using bigger animals on attack is they usually only sustain temp injuries, even from heavy firepower such as frags and rockets. a good pack of animals helps with manhunter packs too, i usually dont completely lock off my base, and smaller manhunter animals wont catch the traps, so definitely keep them on the attack. I find animals are best with infestations and tribes, so so with pirates, but if you get a mech hive attack or ship be sure to turn them off on follow into combat. I tend to frag out the Mechs, so animals usually get ground up, plus mechs tear things up in close quarters

IMO, only use expendable and breedable animals for defence, like boars or wargs. A megasloth is highly valuable as it produces wool.

Good animals, because he eat only grass, wargs only meat !
But, dont saacrifice your only one, find the other genders and make alots !
Dont know the growing/reproduction cycling, got one long time ago, never find the other gender to trade/adopt

To avoid friendly fire, i got only one guys handling all the animals, and find another way to attack (backstab or flank)
Better use to chase those who left...
