How do Sterile tiles work?
If I have a hospital with a mix of sterile tiles and other tiles do the sterile tiles still work?

I am pretty sure they do, but it depends on the rest of the flooring too. If half is sterile and half is dirt I don't think it helps very much because the hospital is still seen as "dirty."

But if you have, say, wooden floors mixed with sterile you will see a % increase although it will not be as much as if the entire hospital floor were sterile.

But take this information with a grain of salt. I am almost certain that it works that way BUT there are people on the forums that have way more knowledge about it than me.

Sterile tiles allow a higher level of "Clean" than other floors, which can boost a few things. To get the full benefit you'd want the whole room tiled.

If you click on the room score overlay on the bottom right of your screen you can see a detailed breakdown of how some of this works. Every room has a cleanliness/dirtiness score which looks at every tile in the room, if a tile is dirty that adds a lot, if a tile is sterile that subtracts a little. If the score is negative the room is sterile, and if the room is sterile then you get bonuses or penalties to medicine, cooking and research.
