Faster Travel
Traveling on the world map is excruciatingly slow. I've considered making pod launchers after I've attacked settlements, but it costs far too much steel and those precious components.

We really need some sort of vehicles. I'm thinking Mad Max kinda ones.

but....

until that happens, if ever, is there a mod that can help me?

Giving a way to more easy raid other places is a thing i would welcome even if it is a simpe * return home* option that would idle the pawns in the caravans for a month before they would pop back up on your map.

as it is right now i just do not bother with it, any working mod that could help would surely be welcome.

My game is running so slow at the moment, massive colony and 40 colonists, that even a 4 day romp across the wastes feels like a year.

There is an option in the devtools called "fast caravan". Turns a 2 day trip into an hour trip. Your pawns finally found a car

Think of the pod launchers as an up front payment for speeding up your colonists journey.

Less time spent travelling the world map = less chances of meeting manhunters and such

That said I would only use them for raiding or if I had a pressing need to get some supplies from trade.

Even more impressively, they also cut down forests and built the roads, bridges and tunnels to make use of that newly found vehicle without slowing down...

Hahaha :D

Unless the destination is very close I use pods to get my people in, then let them walk out. If your colony is well-established you can pod them the resources to make more pods for their return trip, but even if you don't do that you've still saved half the time by podding them in there.

I suppose what I'm really saying is that I don't even bother with raids or outpost attacks *until* I've got the resources to make pods. Every map sits on tens of thousands of steel, and I usually find the only real bottleneck to making pods is component *production speed*, not the resources for the components themselves. It's for that reason I buy every component I can once I'm sitting on a lot of silver. Making them is just pathetically slow when you take into account how often you need the damn things.

But I find most "quest" rewards involving outpost raiding are almost never worth it to me anyway. Unless they're offering a legendary sniper rifle or the like I usally ignore them. And as far as trading by caravan goes I also find it to be more of a chore than it's worth. Orbital trading is far less hassle. It's a shame because I like the idea of it and am okay with the execution. It feels like it's lacking real incentive, though.

Good point about the steel being on maps. So it's just really a case of sending in a good miner when the slaughter is over. I have the components mod which makes components faster to make. Sure, it's a little bit cheating, but I'm here to have fun, not spend God awful amounts of time waiting for components to be churned out. So, it's a sacrifice for funablity.
I'm told the game has a weird (to me) thing it does where if you have a lot of components on hand things break down more often.

This is like having a car that breaks down if you fill the gas tank. Or worse, a car that breaks down if you buy any extra air filters to store in the garage for when you need them.

*edit: No wait- It's as if just having a few bottles of Pepto Bismol in the medicine cabinet *causes* explosive diahhrea.

1. Walk
2. Pod launchers
3. Just don't go there

None of them are good. It is your job to find the one that sucks least
