diable all above ground mining. above ground take priority

Pretty simple, but make sure there is power. Also, if your colonist is very hungry or tired, it maybe the case that these needs take over whilst they're on route to the drill. I've seen this happen with my own pawns. This happens even if they are ordered to do something.

generally mining is something they only do for a short time irrelevant of food/rest or anything. and deep drilling follows same rule so if anything else is a higher priority even normal mining they willmonly mine for a short time

While a pawn is on any mining task they will constantly be checking for something else to do and they will stop mining to go do that something else if it comes up, even if you try to force prioritize it. You need to make sure their other needs are met and they don't have any other jobs they want to do, then they will mine until they get hungry/tired/bored. This check is in place to stop pawns from breaking while mining plasteel, because otherwise they would try to mine an entire block at once, which is impossible for a low skill miner.

If they won't use the deep drill even if you right click on it, then make sure that there are minerals inside it's 3x3 radius.

problem i think he has is same as when u force prioritize regulat mining on say something like plasteel. they do it for a bit then leave if they have any other jobs at a higher priority and it sounds like exactly that he has regualr mining around aswell as drill.

Old thread is old but if anyone was googling for the answer to this like I just was, grab 'Work' tab mod by Fluffy, you can go into the sub categories of mining and set use Drill to a higher priority :)

Lol, same problem. Added some mods and people started dumping their deep drilling without even getting to the drill.

Well a solution would be the misc++ robot mod which adds building roboters that will mine for you without interruption atleast in my experience. You could also try building a small room around the drill and disallowing the door so theyre stuck in that room and keep drilling

Who have this problem, check if you have mod "Mining Priority".
If so, most likely pawn which you assigned for mining is not highest Mining skill in your colony. In order to fix it (without removing mod):
1. Go to "Mining Priority " mod settings
2. Enable option "Ignore best miners that are busy with another job".

Long after the fact but still an issue. THANK YOU.
