Is there a way to have people carry food?
I play on a 400x400 map and too often characters will walk really far out to do something and stop before getting there to get back home and eat, wasting time achieving nothing. Is there a way to have them carry some food on them?

No way in vanilla to force it. You could with the mod combat realism by including that in the loadout.

But of course using that mod comes with large game changes, the biggest of which is the requirement of producing ammo.

They often do carry a single meal, don't they? I've seen them stop, pull a meal out from somewhere, and eat.

They do, but you can't force them.

But they don't always carry one, how come ? Or what condition need to meet for them to carry one ?

starve them a bit. They get paranoid after that and will carry one after their fasting.

Whether they carry a meal or not depends on where you place the meals I have found. If the meals are in the same room as the dining room, they more often than not will walk in, eat, then pick up another meal on their way out. If the meals are in a different area from where they eat, they are much less likely to pick up a meal to take with them.

you CAN actually.
IF the clonist doesn't have a current item in his/her inventory you can click on any meal and order them to "equip" it which will make them carry it. Not sure if it's because of a mod but my colonists can actually be forced to carry around foodstuff with them.. frack I can even order them to "equip" wood ;)

A single log is considered a weapon in the base game. Nothing abnormal there.

It's because of a mod. I don't have the option.

The wood part is vanilla.

That is the first thing I do on my play throughs starting with nothing. I agree the food equipping is a mod, unless that is new in A16. Which I guess is possible, as we just got that new icon next to food in inventory this alpha.

Know any mods that allow equipping food aside from the combat realism mod?

That is the only one I'm sure of, but maybe one of the camping mods?

You can use mod Dubs Mint Menus, in mod settings enable Mint Gear Menu, there you can set meal type and amount.

Works with modded meals (using only Vanilla Expanded), I make my colonists carry 2 packaged srvival meals.

Dont use it to carry drugs, its bugged and you can use drug policy, I suggest to have 1 wakeup.

In other tabs you can order your pawns to equip weapond and apperal, usefull when you have a lot of items in your colony. Try also research tab override

THANKS this is much needed. I tried using loadouts but that also requires you to set a specific weapon loadout, which im not always interested in.
