How to survive Artic Maps?
Hello, I ended dying from hypothermia with my last survivor, I was killing all the people asking for help and the one that were following it to get human meat to survive.

And there was almost no source of food.

What else could have been done to survive?

I couldn't plant in hydroponics nothing outside, since the temperature couldn't make grow my plants, and inside, they didn't grow neither, so there's no real source of food.

If you are using total vanilla.

Solar Panels to run sunlamps for hydroponics.
Wind Turbines + Batteries to run the actual hydroponics & the heaters to keep the rooms warm enough for crops to grow. Double wall like freezers. Also pipe steam from vents into your base to help.

If they wouldn't grow inside I'm guessing you either forgot the sunlamp or forgot the heater.

Early game, 3x4 room, make an orbital trade beacon, since you only have one guy people will join constantly, let them die, use a heater and solar panel + battery for heat, either research electric smelting so you can make steel reliably, or for a more-RMG game use an orbitla trade beacon. Then, research until you get a parka with -100C+ temp, then laugh, say GG game, then you can do it more however yoi want, after you get hydroponics.

Did you try "Ice Sheet" or "Sea Ice"?

Big difference, Ice Sheet will have a few resources and possibly a tiny number of animals to hunt. Sea Ice biome will have zip for resources so you will rely on whatever you brought, and whatever you can trade/steal/kill for.

edit: leave cannibalism open as an option ;)

I do Sea Ice, way harder :)
Cannabalism is literally my only meal source in it, so LOL

The creator of this discussion got 22 hours in the game.
I don't know if we should sigh or applause him for doing artic map.

Yep, very much harder, even if you drop in with a lot of supplies, the lack of resources is pretty limiting.

The key point was the solar lights, I thought that they were lights powered by sunlight, I couldn't understand the meaning, but now you said solar lamps are used to power up hydroponic seeds, now I see the meaning for it.

Yes, Sun Lamps mimic sunlight to help plants grow in darkness.

You're mostly right with the sea ice. However, animals like polar bears and thrumbos will occasionally wander into the board, so barring cannibalisim, you still have a source of food, albiet an unreliable one.
