If you wanted to dig around in the mod folder, all you might need to do is add the "Cloth" item type tag to the Woolcloth Thingdef. It may need some basic stats as well....if I take a look I'll post back.
That said, if you already have alpacas/muffalos/camels you can use their specific wool directly for most clothing and all three are pretty great.
Yes for clothing they are wonderful, unfortunately though for a tactical vest (pawns are complaining about damaged apparel and when I tell them to drop the vest which they dont need they will put them on again later) needs specifically cloth. Im starting to grow the respective crops to solve this which is easy enough, I just wondered about this little logic hole. Still having a lot of fun with this great game!
