Material for base building
Is there any point in using an other material for base building than Wood?

Stone doesn't burn.

For walls, stone is best, as it does not catch fire, and has higher HP to slow any attackers from coming through.

For doors, that is a whole conversation dependent on HP, door opening speed, and flammability.

@OP

There is an "i" after you select some such as a wood wall on the description, if you click it, you'll see the material stats.

It will show you HP, flammability and so forth.

Stone is harder to destroy, insulates better (u use less power for heaters and coolers) and increases room quality( gives your colonists a Mood buff it its beautiful enough)

Wood is probably my last choice, it's terrible after some time when raiders start to carry grenades they can blow up a wall in 0,1 seconds, i mostly build steel walls until i get enough resources and then i start to slowly replace them with stone ones

granite walls is strongest stone walls

Stone > plasteel > steel > wood

I always use stone for my walls when possible. Wood's only okay if you're starting out and need to get walls built quickly, and want to save the steel for other structures.

I prefer using stone walls with stone floors to completely omit flammability from the situatiion. Granite is best stone for defense while marble is best for floors. Granite has highest HP, marble has highest beauty.

As for doors I like to do a double wooden door setup. They open and close the fastest.

Marble has more beauty for floors? I never knew that. Are you sure? I thought all stone tiles were the same.

It doesn't. Marble just has more beauty when made into art or furniture.

Stone floor tiles are always +2 beauty no matter the stone type.

Polished stone floors are always +3 beauty no matter the stone type.

I use granite walls with plasteel or steel doors, depending on the location. Granite is the most durable stone and won't burn. Plasteel is the best HP for doors you can get without hurting your opening/closing speed.
