Multiplayer!?
Well, in the latest update, Ludeon Studios proved that even when you think a game is at its peak, it can go higher and amaza everyone even more, I've seen this suggestion in multiple threads already, but just imagine:...

A public world that people can join, make a colony and interact with each other...

A private world for you and your friends to play and help or attack each other...

Now I'm not pressuring Ludeon Studios into making a multiplayer for RimWorld, I'm just saying that it would be an amazing idea.

Here are some ideas for mechanics though because I bet some people will be wonrdering how multiplayer COULD work:

-You can only interact with other people's colonies whilst they are online

-There could be a "beginners protection" of several hours whilst you are in-game to build your colony.

-There could be different gamemodes, like deathmatch, team deathmatch, build the monument, idk...

-Alliances/guilds?


Just a suggestion people, please do not take it seriously :)

Are you being raided and losing? Pull out your internet cable, and wait for the other guy to lose interest, or get a friend to raid his now defenceless base while his army is hanging in limbo.

6h real time amounts to 20 days (1 season in game), and I am sure that high level player alliances will be ready to raid you with a large squad of fully augmented power armoured super soldiers the second your protection expires.

Ok, its only a suggestion, but good points, obviously if multiplayer is really added Ludeon would make decent and non-abusable mechanics

while it sounds... interesting, I realy would not like to see my humble town being under siege by luci boosted cyborgs with glitterguns.

Multiplayer does not seem like a good idea for this game, at most I could see co-op, and you can already sorta do that just by getting two colonies, sharing the world and fixing the others issues when your online and they arent, obviously that requires sharing your computer, so not ideal, but any form of vs mode would have to take into account mods, hacks, the fact that after a year in game you can probably wipe out literally anyone who has just joined, honestly I dont see a vs future for this game, co-op seems slightly possible, but we really dont need it, and a chat would just get spammed with either memes or aw man i died again, aw darn this, oh darn that, gosh darn this, then you have to work out how offline vs online works, and if its impossible how to prevent a situation where player A just leaves whenever he sees armies coming his way, and player B has to either sit there and wait (which im sure many people would probably do just to show player A how things work) or leave when they have to or just get bored. Honestly I think we already have a pretty perfect multiplayer community compared to most steam forums, if this game went multiplayer all those people who only play multiplayer games to spam the chat with trololololol and yelling at people who think in different ways to them, and we all know there are people like that.

I could actually see deathmatch being a thing. It's not so different from your regular rts if you disable the world map. Of course, cheaters are a major problem in any multiplayer game and I doubt that the dev has enough time to come up with great cheat prevention while also improving on the main game.

long answer: x2 and x3 speed is not viable cause of the encounters.
(hf gl defending 40 tribals on double or triple speed with NO PAUSE)
so only x1 speed left. see short answer.

Yeah, I think co-op would be a good feature, maybe not sot much multiplayer..

I think there are already mods that allow you to send resources or colonists to a friend who also has this mod. Otherwise I don't think multiplayer would be necessary. The game is based around pausing in tough situation, it wouldn't be the same game anymore in multiplayer.

i actuly have 2 ideas for multiplayer
idea 1:
an online world where other players have a colony on the same map so you can have pvp action,some diplo and allies.
idea 2:
shared colonist for a co-op experiance...basicly red and blue colonist in the same colony...you could setup wich colinst would belong to who and wich computer to listen to.
so this basicly is working as a team to build one big colony. ( or 5 the max )
( you can always pick another color to fit a new player but i think the amount of players this way is limited by the amount of colonists in the colony.)
if you have 1 colonist well then you need to wait till a wandere joins for the other player.


as for the speed of the game it should either be changeble throug a voting system,anyone or host can only.
so the server setup sets who can pause or speed up/down.

thats how i would imagine multiplayer.
i would realy love a 2 player co-op mode that would be enough,but an online world would be just as cool.
will be alot of code....but thats just the way games are made.
and **** mods.
i want it to be a part of vannila!
mods are cool,but if you want it done with full support then the dev should make it,or youll get stuck with another out of date mod.

just for you guys info europa universalis 4 also has a speed 1,2,3 and pause optiond and it has 254 slots per server.
i know its a diffrent game but the same basic time system works in multiplayer and is the same as rimworlds.
also youll get used to the not being able to pause real quick..

This will never happen for many reasons.

The only way I can see multiplayer in Rimworld would be some type of quickplay match of pvp.
