How do I grow after growing season?
It says cannot grow due to bad season temperature. How do I get around this??

Make a room around your growing area and put in a heater or a campfire.

Two ways, basically:

Build an enclosed space on soil with a roof and a sun lamp in the middle. Sun lamps take a lot of power, but you can turn it off at night, as plants will only grow during day, even inside. You also need to heat the room. Campfires are not very efficient, but if you have enough it can work. Heaters need some power, but it's not terrible. The cheapest solution is to build around a steam geyser, as they provide a lot of heat when enclosed. The downside is you lose some growing space because of the geyser.

The second way is hydroponics (must be researched). It eats a lot of power (and you still need the sun lamp), but it's the only option if you have no usable soil.

I have now done this but I have trouble getting electricity to everything!! My sun lamps and heaters switch on for about 5 seconds then go off again, and repeat. Why???

You must not have enough power. Sun lamps use 1600W. That's almost an entire solar panel at 100% output

You can also make big field during grow season + hunt a lot and survived
with the stocked things during winter. (+ what you can find to hunt)

I like to do both.
I create a little greenhouse (1 sun lamp radius) and put some
crops outside. This way, I stock some food duing the growing season
and I still got new food time to time with my greenhouse.
Once I got a lot of people, I make my greenhouse bigger.

How do you guys supply power for the lamps? Generators and power lines?
icosahedron32 Apr 19, 2017 @ 9:37am
I think you can connect them to their own solar panel circuit, so that they'll turn on when the morning comes and then turn off when the plants sleep.

Personnally, I used a combinaison of all the power thing.
-A couple of fuel generator for easy stable power (really great at first)
... but not too many because that take wood... so if you have a lot of them,
you will cut/wood all day XD (and that can be a problem in cold season)
-Some wind turbine (give from a lot of power to a little... depend of the wind.)
-Some solar pannels, give stable power only at day
(you can put them near wind turbine without affected them)
-Once you get the technology for, Geothermal generator are the best.

You can a couple of batteries but not too many.
The zzt events produce an explosion that depend of the energy stored in
your active batteries. At first, I use two batteries.
If this is not enough, I try to increase my electricity
production instead of my energy storage.

After a while, I also put two or three batteries blocked by a switch
at off. So if I need extra energy, I get those.

Plants also didn't grow at night so you can close the sun lamp when
night come and open it back on at day. There is also a mod
that got day/night switch.

How do I post a screenshot? I need to know why this sun lamp isn't recieving electricity!
Scathe Apr 20, 2017 @ 8:59am
to take a screenshot is usualy F12. then when you exit game there should be an option popup to upload it to the steam cloud, upload it. then click your name at the top of the steam browser(next to community) then click content, then click on the screenshot you want to link. you should see its address at the top of that page, something like http dot dot slash slash steamcommunity.com slash sharedfiles slash filedetails slash ?id= long number. fill that address into your post and it'll link the screenshot.

The power lines need to be fairly close to the sun lamp to work. Items that need electricity can connect from about 4 tiles away from a power line.
If it keeps turning on and off you don't have enough power. Build more solar panels and wind turbines or research geothermal power.
You also need more than one battery connected if you want to run a sun lamp on solar and wind power.
Remember to connect everything with power cables.
