I dont know what does abrasive ppl do, but pyromaniacs arent as bad as they sound they just go set a few fires around when they have mental break, i dont know if they do it when theyr in good modd too, but you can easily put the fires out and just arrest them to stop it. No big deal imo xD

If they are strong enough in other areas, I go ahead and take them. If you keep them happy, they are less likely to cause problems, but you need to be careful of managing their needs. If a pyro does lose it, make sure you have your firefighters all awake. It's not a problem usually since they beat out the started fires, but if everybody else is asleep, it can get nasty.

Pyro got randomly the "set everything in fire" mental break. (even with a good mood)
When he does that, draft someone near him and when
you see the pyro getting out his weapon, that mean he is going to set
where he looks in fire... so put the drafted guy near that spot so
he will beat out the fire before it does even 1 of damage.
Do that until the pyro stop being in mental break.
That doesn't happen really often so this is not a big deal if you have only one of them.

For abrasive, just set it in night shift. In the restrict set it as sleep when
most people are up (for 8hours. More is useless) and work when most of people are sleeping.
This way, the chance it reduce other people mood will be reduce.

You can also send them to a caravane without food and let them die but
this is not at all my kind of thing to do.

Euthanize.

I find abrasives to be a non-issue. I just don't give them melee weapons so if they end up talking ♥♥♥♥, they don't stab a decent human being in a social fight.

I treat pyros like children. They get specific "allowed areas." And if they set a fire, like Brassqund said I just typically have someone else hop on it and follow them about until they stop. Exception being if they decide throw a tantrum during a raid. Then they're arrested or if arresting them would take longer than 10 seconds, shot. After the raid depending on how badly they mucked things up I sell them off to the next slaver or experiment on them.

I realize at a certain point this isn't how one should treat children, I'll let you decide where I draw the line in this analogy.

give the abrasives dentures and then uninstall the dentures.

I'm a bad person :D

Pyromanaics aren't worth it due to how unrealibale they can be, in the middle of a bionic eye transplant they can decide hmmm ima start a fire, when a raid happens they can burn your freezor down, they can be the happiest person in the colony and decide to start fires whenever.

I deal with abrasive colonist by making them work at night and sleep at day to lessen the odds of them having social interactions.

+1

Maybe some people have the patience to assign the pyros a babysitter and deal with losing 2 productive members for the duration of the pyro's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Not me. You're either a reliable worker or you're getting sent to punch some predators
Greep Mar 29, 2017 @ 1:59pm
Definitely euthanize. Less about difficulty, less about an individual pyro, more about 5 pyros in your base turning the game into a babysitter simulation.
Oldman Deuce Mar 29, 2017 @ 3:48pm
Even if the abrasive one starts fights, I've never had a colony ending experience from that. I won't mess with a pyro, but I never euthanize either, I forget that mechanic is even there. All gear, clothing, gets dropped, go punch a boomrat or two. That or I like them in a small room I build just for unwanted colonists.

@Gooeyoogey

Dont listen to them i always get at least one pyromaniac on my playthrough, they arent as bad as it sounds at all ;p I never had any bad stuff coming out of having them ;p

My lazy colonists have started way WAY more fights than abrasive ones. Pyros if they're good fine, I enjoy high rainfall biomes so fire rarely gets out of control in combination with colonists fighting fire. I have never had a big problem with pyros, at least not as much as I thought I would.

They aren't that hard to deal with I get the random fire starting rampages every couple days no much to worry about even with raids considering like no more than 1/4 of your colonist should get injured

Pyro I arrest/capture and sell them off to a slaver. But, I keep my abrasives, and usually give them isolated outdoor jobs such as hunting, growing/plant cutting, and mining. (I use restriction zones heavily if I have a problem pawn.)

If you have enough stone-type material, build your walls from stone so pyro cannot burn them down. Next tile your floor with stone and lay a 2xtile path of stone around your buildings. This will prevent fires from reaching and burning your buildings, and if the pyro tries to ignite something when standing on the outside tiles, he fails. The only vulnerable part is the electricity conduit, which can catch fire, and allows the fire to travel across the stone.
