Air and Heat needs Thermostats
This current system is not... fantastically done. It's a lot of tedious micro-management. A thermostat system needs to be implemented. You need to be able to go to your heater or your cooler and plug in a temp you want the room to stay at, and it would have to work harder to maintain inefficent systems (one cooler cooling a whole builing for instance).

That way all you have to worry about is setting up heaters and coolers to go on and off and making actual effecient systems, as opposed to just having to keep a constant eye on every little temperature.

The game already does this though. You set the desired temperature and the heater or cooler runs to keep it at that temp. It has a low power mode and high power mode. If it can't maintain the temperature you want that is because you need more heaters or coolers. Set your heaters to just above the minimum comfortable temperature and your coolers to just below the maximum comfortable temperatures.

Huh? Wthout being insulting, maybe you're doing it wrong. I also don't agree that one unit should be able to power a whole building.

But more to the point, why are you finding you have to micromanage your cooling and heating? In room(s) I want to keep at neutral I find 1-2 heaters + 1-2 coolers and some vents does the trick. Setting the heaters 5C apart at the low end. Like one kicks on for 10C and the other for 15C. And for coolers 5C at the high end so one at 25C and one at 20C. This is for bigger rooms mind you. Often I can get away with 1 of each and then just ignore that area all year. No real micro involved except for the initial temperature settings.

The reason I layer the temps like that is to make sure the range is obeyed but also to save power. The 10C heater only kicks into high if the room would drop below 10C. The high end cooler only kicks into high if the room tries to go above 25C. More often than not, in the 2-2 setup only 1-2 units are in high at a time, the area is the ideal temp and things are lovely.

So... if you get just a touch creative the game is already set up to do this part

P.S. I do the same for freezers depending on size 3-4 coolers starting at -5C and going down by 5 until I run out of coolers. If the freezer sits below -5c easily, like in winters, the 5C cooler is in low power, etc.

I didn't see the little white numbers popping up from the things when I clicked (I play pretty far back) I was looking for a little options in the menu when you clicked on it (right next to the minus and plus 2s and 15s).
