The easiest way to tame a thrumbo
DISCLAIMER: If you REALLY want to tame a Thrumbo, I recommended you to do it late game. When you have stable food/power income, and a really solid base. Basically, a strong colony.

I just think I did an interesting (and at least personal) discover. I will just go straight to the point.

I found out probably the easiest and effortless way to tame a Thrumbo; All you need is a good medic (at least 13) and a badly injured Thrumbo to heal him, so they will bond middle healing.

I downed one of the poor b♥♥♥♥♥♥s for their super valuable horns, ending in a shock due to pain. Being the last one of the unfortunate small pack I send Bubba, my bloodthirsty melee specialist, to cut the ♥♥♥♥ out of him.
He spends quite a while hitting the big guy until I feel sad for him. I tell him to stop, and immediately send Tsao Mao, the colony's best medic, to treat him.
With inhumane strength, Mao carries the 1 ton beast herself to the decks instead of the hospital to begin the treatment.
The blood loss it's huge, a +300% and death in 7 hours, bleeding everywhere you see. Every wound heal decreased a bit the death, but it felt it was useless. The animal's chances weren't increasing, and still had +200% blood loss and less than 4 hours to live.

After quite a while of intensive patching, stitching, bullet removal, blood cleaning, and racing against the clock with +100% blood loss, the animal created a special connection with Tsao Mao. She realized what they have done, and empathized so much with the poor creature that she really didn't want him to die, and he didn't wanted her to leave him. They both knew it.
The animal's surviving chances finally start to slowly increase as Tsao Mao patches the final wounds.

After +6 hours of intense medical treatment, exhausted, heads to the kitchen and eats her meal as she talks with the night-owl cooker Trev about what just happened.
After a good talk; she goes directly to her room, lies in her bed with her fiance Ark, and immediately falls asleep knowing she made a new friend.

Her new friend was Connor.

Welcome to our colony Connor.

Now I will have to build an entire new farm just for him. Thanks for keeping things interesting, Connor.

I have large amounts of unoccupied grounds behind my walls. So I think I will hold up for a while, until winter comes...

Thanks, btw!

Is it recommended?
By whom?
Why?
Sure, you can tame them if you wish, or just rely on the RNG gods to have one self tame (that happens more frequently than any other method). However, there is no need for them, especially in end game.

Oh, sorry, my bad. Forgot to correct that.

You will need to hurt him even more after he is downed, so the "incapacitated time" increases.

You need to make its pain to be really high so the time you heal it,
it doesn't have the time to reduce the pain below the "I can't move" point

What I learned from rimworld: to make friends you have your other friends brutally beat someone to death then try to stop them from bleeding. lol
Approximately how much do thrumbos eat per day in corn? Will they go for meats also?

Pretty sure it's standard for all pets

No, each animals are different.

Different hunger rate:
Chicken: 0.25
Pig: 0.40
Cow: 0.90
Elephant: 2.0
Human: 2.0 (we eat like an elephant? Lol)
thrumbo: 4.5

So the thrumbo eat 2.5x what an human eat...

And also, they are herbivorous and dendrovorous...
which mean they can eat plant, vegetable/fruits and trees.

Does anyone know the bond chances per wound as well as what modifies the chances? I want to down a thrumbos that just visited but I doubt how likely it is

I tame them with bullets. Usually works.

And as Brassqund said ... they eat trees. I got a self-tamed one, and the greedy bastard ate all the hay and grass from my field, and then started sucking up trees whole from my tree farm. I was not impressed.
