They go away eventually like the other long-term illnesses (gut worms and muscle parasites). They will even go away without treatment (though the wiki says that this can take up to 8 real life hours). Goes away much faster with treatment (better medicine speeds it up even more)

Okay, thank you. It didn't have the immunity thing so i got worried.

Nah there's no immunity for them. They'll just disappear at some random time. No way of knowing when for sure.

i do suggest you treat
treating them seems to lower the pain it causes and while the mechnites are actually a positive
the pain can reach levels where a colonist can die from it
especially when combined with regular wounds

I don't think colonists can die outright from pain by itself...But I could be wrong. I've never seen it happen. They can certainly pass out from it though

cause of death is always kinda hard to tell
but i think when it reaches 100% it either disables or kills
but i cant really say for sure
mood penalty will lower efficiency anyway so to get most benefit from the mechathings pain should be kept down

Do not treat them if they're a masochist, they'll only get bonuses. Masochists are the BEST. They'll be happier rather than sad if they've got scars or injuries, and with mechanites, they get nothing but bonuses. Their senses or physical abilities are enhanced, and they get a mood bonus.

But yeah, for this, your guys hurt a lot and can see/hear better for a while. Don't bother treating it with medicine unless you've got excess medicine or a renewable supply. Same with asthma and similar.

Do remember that you can treat it without medicine though.

i know this conversation ends long time ago but i cant go to sleep well if i dont tell that humans in real life can die just from pain for example a whiplash...same in the game.

I'm pretty confident pain alone will not kill you in the game. And funny thing, somehow no matter how effectively I treat mechanites it doesn't seem to have any effect at all on pain levels.

since this was ages ago, i might be misremembering
but you cant reduce the effects of it, only slow down the increase
so the pain you have gained is there until its over, but you can reduce the pain you will get by treating by slowing down the pain increase

Ah, that's the first explanation I've heard which actually matches experience. Thanks!

It requires a certain amount of tend quality. For example, if the disease is at 1000, it means that you would require 10 medicines at 100% to cure. or 20 medicines at 50%

Diseases like that (gut worms and muscle parasites, off the top of my head) will say so in their tooltip. The mechanite diseases are just time-based.
