Are any of the underground deep drilling nodes compact machinery?
Before I start scouting all over, will I ever got components from deep drilling?

Sadly, no

However, you can mine plasteel, sell it and make a lot of money, then buy a bunch of components
No, but you can make your own components if you research it.

Yeah, it just takes so long. I find that's all I'm waiting for. Been waiting for traders to come into trade range so I can get rid of some of my pigs for components, but I figured I'd ask to see if I can't drill for them or not.

If you already strip-minded whole map, then you can instal this mod and I don't call this "cheaty" :

If you call in a couple of bulk goods caravans, generally you can trade for enough steel each season to keep yourself in enough components, and you'll make a tidy profit on any excess wool/clothing/produce/drugs you need to offload.

I mean, it's only making getting components 2.5x easier to get, y'know..

Your playing a single player game, there's no such thing as "cheating".

"act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination."
Unfairly = mods that change base content, to gain an advantage.
Alright, I honestky don't care but, y'know

Not only cheaper, but much more important - faster.

I don't seem cheaty to use it if you already strip-mined whole map. Sure, you can get all needed components from trade - but it will take much more time. Real world time too. And if you still building your mega-base - why waste own time?

Lol, fair eough I guess. Personally would be better just to change the time, but whatever

Really shouldnt be hard to just buy 5 components off every trader you see.

I tend to call in traders often and generally have 40-80 components in stock at all times.

This is year 4 on a flat map with components still able to be mined, tons of fallen ship chunks to be deconstructed and dozens of mechs to be deconstructed.

You really dont need to cheat, you just need to not waste them and always make sure you are steadily buying them...its just part of planning ahead.

No different than calling in bulk traders trying to buy stone blocks whenever you can on a flat map, its something you should have planned ahead as you know you'll potentially run out of building materials.

I use a lot of mods, anyways, so I might check it out. I don't consider it cheating when I spend most of my time on fast forward until a raid or a trader comes by... woo fun...

I dont' care how much they cost because I get loads of steel from deep drilling, but the speed they make them keeps me to a point where I can just about fix everything that breaks down...

If you are just modifying it and doing whatever you want...you arent playing a game...you're just playing.

Sure have fun playing, its your money do what you want...

But lets not try to say that a 4 year old sitting at a Monopoly board, randomly rolling dice and moving where ever they want, taking money whenever they want is playing Monopoly...its not, its them playing, but its not them playing the game of Monopoly.

Sounds like you need more challenge added not more removed then if the game is such a snooze you just FF to raids.

But nobody cares. That's the best part. Just because you can't make up your own games doesn't mean that 4 year old, "playing" at his own game, can't.
