However, you can mine plasteel, sell it and make a lot of money, then buy a bunch of components

Unfairly = mods that change base content, to gain an advantage.
Alright, I honestky don't care but, y'know
Not only cheaper, but much more important - faster.
I don't seem cheaty to use it if you already strip-mined whole map. Sure, you can get all needed components from trade - but it will take much more time. Real world time too. And if you still building your mega-base - why waste own time?
I tend to call in traders often and generally have 40-80 components in stock at all times.
This is year 4 on a flat map with components still able to be mined, tons of fallen ship chunks to be deconstructed and dozens of mechs to be deconstructed.
You really dont need to cheat, you just need to not waste them and always make sure you are steadily buying them...its just part of planning ahead.
No different than calling in bulk traders trying to buy stone blocks whenever you can on a flat map, its something you should have planned ahead as you know you'll potentially run out of building materials.
I dont' care how much they cost because I get loads of steel from deep drilling, but the speed they make them keeps me to a point where I can just about fix everything that breaks down...
Are you playing a single player game?
If you are just modifying it and doing whatever you want...you arent playing a game...you're just playing.
Sure have fun playing, its your money do what you want...
But lets not try to say that a 4 year old sitting at a Monopoly board, randomly rolling dice and moving where ever they want, taking money whenever they want is playing Monopoly...its not, its them playing, but its not them playing the game of Monopoly.
Sounds like you need more challenge added not more removed then if the game is such a snooze you just FF to raids.
