Heaters not heating
Heaters are set to 21 deg, are indoors, area is roofed and walled. all heaters are powered. room shows 8 deg and the heaters arent doing anything. they are in low power comsumption.

I had them working before, then I added a bunch of vents to nearby rooms.

Screenshot needed to determine real problem. Guess is that you are trying to heat too large of an area or the heater itself is not venting anywhere.

If you have a vent going to an outside room that might cause the heaters to shut off.

I posted a screen shot to my profile. I placed my mouse just beside the heater. the message in the corner says 13C inside (not unroofed or outside). The heater that is selected is only consuming low power meaning that it thinks it is up to temprature.

are you trying to heat all those areas with just one heater? you kidding, right?
from screen - pretty big areas with opened passage to farm and further and all i can see is just one heater......

I have a 20 x 26 freezer, it takes 11 coolers to freeze it, try adding more heaters (inverse yet same problem)

This...

The heaters we have in the game are closer to being little more than budget space heaters than a full heating system. Each one only supports about 100-120 tiles of space. Much more than this and the heater does almost nothing. If the space of an area is too large without any enclosure (doors) then the game essentially treats this as outside space even if covered.

So add some doors. Add some walls to divide large spaces. Install multiple heaters.

This is not right. You should need only about half that number of coolers. Feels like you have bad insulation or don't have a proper airlock setup, or are putting your stove(s) in the freezer and running them all day.

another thing as it hasnt been mentioned do you have all your heaters in the same spot with vents going from room to room? if so the further a room is away the less heat itll recieve due to it havig to travel. i usually have a couple of heather placed opposite to each in different rooms.

If you have a good supply of wood, having a campfire in a large room might help, too.

Like the others have said, I just took a look at the screenshot. Far too much space for one heater to keep warm. Think of them more like portable electric heaters than fully blown super powered ones.

Stick in some doors then check hold open or close on them to adjust for your temperature needs accordingly.
Though i'm guessing the heater is more important for your crops, I would suggest sticking it right in with them instead of a the corridor outside.

Uwotm8?

You shouldn't need 11 coolers for 20 X26 tiles. I would think 2-3 at most for that size of space.
Also it's a good idea to have 1 cooler set to -15C and the others at like -1C, that way the others will more likely be on low power and only need to use up more when you've got a heatwave or something.

Check the roof above the freezer and check the temperature controls.
Also airlock for the doorway.

I got about 2 dozen heaters, I just started moving them into the bedrooms so they can heat there then use the vent to heat the hallway

All heaters and coolers in this area are default setting of 21C. Only coolers with lower are my freezer -20C. The hot air is directed outside

My issue isnt how the heater works (got 600+ Hrs logged). Its that the heaters arent doing what they should be. When a heater or cooler is attempting to heat/cool to the target temp the power consumed is high. when at the target temp or beyond then the power drawn is low. All my heaters are saying low even though the temp around them is way lower then what it should be.

Unless you've changed something since your screenshot, this is because you have your heaters positioned in such a large space. When you have large spaces, even which are enclosed, the heat calculations the game uses ends up realizing that the space will lose more heat through walls and ceiling than it would ever gain from a heater and just saying the heater won't work. You need to create smaller enclosed spaces for heaters to work.

Think you are missing the point. It isn't that the heater can't keep up with a large space, it is not even trying. It is in low power mode. If it just couldn't heat that large an area it would be at high power all the time.

OP, It really seems the area in question is outside. But you have said you checked that. At this point I'd recommend starting a thread on the main forums and providing a copy of your save.

Oh. One thing to try first...

What exact version of game do you have? During test releases, there was a bug where indoor/outdoor were not working quite right for heaters/coolers. Some people were getting around that by tearing down a wall to the outside and then rebuilding it.
