How do i beat infections?
Glitterworld meds at very chance? Check
Doc with skill of 10 or more? check
Doc works at every chance? check
Temp around 21°C? Check
sick guy spends all day in hospital bed? check
Room is cleaned? check
Feeding as soon as it becomes possible? check

End result: Infection 100%, he/she died. Immunity around 50~60%
Over 3 savefiles i lost like 12 people to infection. If iam really out to make immunity reach 100% before infection does i have no clue how to save people. He last guy who got an infection was put in front of a brick wall and shot in the head. I didn't even tried at that point, just saved my glitterworld meds, these are expensiv.

And no i don't life in a rainforest.

That's odd.. Even with a sub-10 doc (I think it was like 8-9) and not starting the treatments as fast as I should have, using herbal medicine, when one of my guys got an infection in their hand they died at immunity 98%.

Anyway, if the infection is in a limb, you can amputate it to save them. Assuming the surgeon doesn't screw up. At least it'll let them live, albeit at reduced efficiency until you can find a bionic replacement.

A missing kidney will pretty much make it impossible to develop immunity before the pawns die, but I don't think that each and every one of those 12 were missing a kidney.

infection in head: Yeah...
infection in arm: they carry/work less but still need as much food as anyone else
infection in leg: becomes useless until wooden leg is installed, then same as infection in arm.

Killing them makes space for new people and saves on food.

Well, I guess you could always try to get as much out of them as you can if you don't want to invest in bionic limbs. Extract a kidney, then one other organ of your choice (other kidney, lungs, heart, whatever) and when they die, if you're good on colonist mood butcher the corpse and turn him into kibble. It's what Tommy would've wanted.

Dark end here. I started to deal with infection by headshot and grave right after the infection started. Seemed more human. But making animal food out of them sounds good too.

There is euthanasia under medical operations. Might be more humane than putting them up against a wall and assembling the firing squad. Though depending on how you look at it, if they're gonna die anyway why not let them perform one last service for the colony? They won't need those organs where they're going..

And the kibble bit was just the result of a particularly desperate winter as a tribe where raids were welcomed because it meant the carnivorous animals would be well-fed for a while.

yeah some of them were a bit old, but not all of them. not even far

Had a look at the wiki. Says you can amputate the infected arm or leg if the infection is in there to successfully stop the infection.

Might be worth a shot if you're desperate.

infections shouldnt even happen that often if u treat soon after injury and are generally easier to get over than any sickness
