its good we enjoyed it a lot
keep in mind the combat is very stiff and is just a "Whatever" The game is about exploring following the story n making it back to moria
it DOES have some random performance issues but nothing crazy like enshrouded
there are several location i love to see in game.
on the other hand there are several issues ive faced while playing
the game looks fantastic but has a "not finished flavour"
best to check some letsplays and decide if you want to dive into moria
The issues are like the dot wall, for loading in area's behind mining walls of dirt. There are also furniture that is not very functional. For example, you cannot sit in chairs, but apparently you can use the wardrobe.
One thing to to know is each map has it's own seed, so everyone's game is different. What appears in one person's game might be earlier or later in your game. The entrance could also be higher or lower compared to other's games.
Yes the fights are a bit stiff but I enjoy the mechanics. Shieldsmashing orcs into a chasm just doesn't get old.
Be sure to play it in coop though.
I havent personally played valheim but comparing both games objectively valheim reigns superior.
And I disagree with the statement this being better because it being finished, while I prefer finished games over EA I have to doubt the being finished part being the main reason of 1 game being better than a similar game. Specifically this game being finished is one of the bigger problems it has since there is 0 reasonable endgame content
Sorry but in my opinion, you are wrong. Return to Moria is a finished game. And because of this one objectively true fact, valheim will never hold a candle to it.
I don't know if they've changed it since I last played, but most of the useful food you can't take with you, and if you want to stack buffs, sometimes the buffs run out before you can even finish stacking them. They certainly don't last long past your door. So if you wanted them to attack an orc camp, well, you're SoL.
The system where you get tired also got a bit old for me. personally. It's a game, and I don't want to be hamstrung and spend most of my time waiting for things, or running back to sleep, or waiting for food that doesn't do much besides get rid of your hunger.
I found the RNG for certain items to be pretty horrible, and if you don't mind loading your character into other maps to get more, then you won't have a problem with this. I'm old school and don't want to have to load a different game to farm things for my original game that should be provided in the world I originally had. It breaks the atmospheric feel of LOTR. You shouldn't have to do this.
I also found the building to be a bit janky compared to other systems, so I didn't really enjoy that part of it.
Obviously, other people don't mind all this, so it's really what you can tolerate in your games and what you find enjoyable and not enjoyable.
I'm not too fussed because I bought it on sale, but had I bought it at full price I probably would not be happy.
