Question on Connected Hearths
So I have been building a line of Hearths from the first camp you find to the Great Forge in the Elven Quarter. Everything was going good, but now I have lost access to the materials that I have moved to the Great Forge base I am building. I have verified that the area between my original base and the Great Forge are still covered with connecting hearths, but for some reason I just lose access to the resources at a certain point. Funny thing is that if I travel back to where I have the access again, it will sometimes extend out a little. It never stays though. Is there a max distance that you can link hearths before you have to setup a new base?

You made a CONTINUOUS strip of hearths? why??

Either there's a limit on hearths, or some of them aren't overlapped correctly. Or the whole system breaks down when trying to handle the ones outside of render range. I think it's more of the latter thing.

I have never tried extending hearths all the way to a new base. I have always just moved all the resources from one base to another. if by resources you meaning wood, stone, and the later materials like granite and adamant there are plenty of these. For instances when destroying Goblin town I will tear all their wood structures down I will leave Piles of Wood and stone on pallets, then I will remove everything but the map stone (I.E tear down the camp) so if needed be i can go back and pick up some wood.

I find a place that is cool and make one main base where i do all my Crafting, Cooking, drinking. i then put map stones at each of these main bases. when ii' ready to move on i will install map stones and leave the them there I rename the Map stones to something i can remember. I then use the map stones to transport the Items to the Next base.

After the main base is done, when I'm working in a particular area i will make camps and have map stones at each of theses camps, that way i can Ferry resources like Iron, Silver E.T,C back to the main base

As for black diamonds, in the Early days of the game they are scarce so sometimes you might have to move map stones around but by later stages you have plenty I have map stones thought the game I also have crafted all the armors that require black diamonds
I still have over 90 free Black diamonds.

I was setting up the hearths to cover all the areas I had been to in order to try reducing the number of patrols and things like that. I also thought you need the hearth coverage to place torches to keep areas lit up, but I have found out you don't. Though it makes it easy to build if you are in a hearth coverage area so you have access to the resources of your base. I am going to take a look and see if I can remove most the the hearths and just leave the ones I need to get back into areas if I need to. At some point I would like to redecorate the entire area near and around Durin's gate. Just wish I could remove all those loose piles of dirt and rock so I can make things look cleaner.

I am assuming that is probably doable with mods, but then you would lose the ability to get all the achievements right?

Most games by using Mods you disable achievements I'm not sure about this game.

I would check on nexus mods if they have a achievement enabler, like they do for skyrim.

I don't think that is how the game works. Instead of doing that, you can put torches around. It keeps your characters warm and the items to make a standing torch is very easy to find. I believe it is the games intention for you to use the standing torches instead of hearths since the materials for them is found so easily.
