Yeah, seems to be a lot of RNG with sandbox maps so anything stating X should be near Y can't really be trusted in that mode.
The point here is, that you have to cross areas, that are waaay to dangerous for your current gear level. Having to pass through the mithril area just to unlock the second great forge is problematic because the game makes it very hard to survive those areas due to that weird damage resistance of high level enemies.
Random map generation is fine, but it still needs to have some sort of structure in a game that is so heavily equipment gated as return to moria.
This does not generate the "good" kind of difficulty, it simply forces you to die repeatedly for progression.
Have the same issue with the dark miasma pools. There super hard to cross, and i have yet to find Kazin steel yet. I did find that building the wooden quick platform is a way around them though. Also had to run thru poison mushroom places. It is meant to be that way i think though.
Those are both stationary and easy to avoid with a bit of brainpower like you said. When you got 10 Shadow Orcs on your ass while wearing the basic iron armor, its kinda hard to mine through the compacted dirtwall to get to the next area :P
Ive been there with 5 urkai attacking me too..lol.
