How to get outside?
Not a bad game but if I'm gonna be in dark caves all the damn time then hard pass. At the point of wanting to absolutely skip everything i possibly can to just literally not be in a cave. any help is appreciated.

that's fine and all but is the entire game inside of a cave with no NPCs to ever consider?

In the book, there is a huge beautiful lake at the eastern entrance of Moria where Balin got killed by an arrow if my memory is correct. It's still a part of Moria and place of fight with goblins.

You can visit the Elven Quarter in the game, and fairly early too in the campaign mode...it's a gorgeous, lakeside area with trees, grass and huge skylights.

It's still underground, but it's brightly lit and not dismal and awful.

But most of the game is venturing through Moria -- which is an underground city built by a people that lived most of their lives underground so...

What you're saying is that you want to jut skip to the end credits. The entire point of the game is to escape Moria by travelling through it. When you get outside, the game ends.

Moria is a mountain-traversing cavern network. That is the entire game. If you don't want to be in a cave, don't play Dwarf games.

The game does provide ways to illuminate and has lots of open spaces. You can put torches everywhere and you do have a "Light" stat. The game wants you to illuminate.

you dont know anything about LotR, do you...otherwise youd know how stupid of a thread this is

always the extremists to be upset about a "dumbass thread." I'm not trying to just skip everything and end the game. don't give a single f@ck about the story or lotr lore. Just simply wanted to know if the entire game takes place in a cave. i ask because it's getting to be like every dark souls game ever where everything is dark and looks the same cool i can light up the way and rebuild and blah blah blah but if i never step foot outside again and never see another dwarf then this game is a massive waste of time.

it's not exactly a bad game and i get what's going on but it seems like a lazy af game design. If anything it reminds me of an asset flip. Craft, cook, fight, repeat to the point of the story being secondary.

You sure about that, sport?

Nothing about the game gives the impression that you won't be stuck in the mines for the entirety of the game. That is a you problem that you fabricated.

Simply put, the game isn't for you, but don't pretend that anything gave any indication that you'd be going outside save to "beat the game". The game's name is "Return to Moria", not "Return to the Village You Left From".

Then what was the point of any of the opening cutscenes? Why even bother introducing characters or showing anything at all that isn't part of the game? You fall through the ground and get separated from everyone else and what? Just forget about all that forever now? lmao

Sets up why you're down there and what you are aiming to do, which is get back out and to your group. It's called a minor story beat.

You don't have to escape as you can simply stay underground, but most people like to have some kind of endgame to work towards as open world (sandbox) games can be overwhelming for them.

The game is about being in the Mines. That's it. Period. Either play the game and enjoy it for what it offers or don't, but whining about something that you're not going to get because of your own poor misunderstanding will not get you anything but ridiculed.

It's not lazy. Their vision was to have a game about being trapped in the Mines. Alone, isolated, unless you play with a friend. Explore, see what's around. (re)build the Mines.

You have options, but you shoehorned yourself into a goal that's unachievable, and because of the mistake you made for yourself you consider it lazy because you failed to set your expectations properly.

this sums up more than enough about the game but sure. this game is quite literally a bad copy of several other survival games and if it didnt have lotr behind it, we probably wouldn't know it exists.

First the game isn't a bad game, then it's a bad copy of several other games. First your complaint is you cannot go outside, then you reference a video stating who knows what because I am not watching it.

I'm fairly tired of you moving the goal post and committing yourself to bad faith arguments. You have no intention of actually taking responsibility for your mistake and have no intention of having a competent debate. You have your mind made up and I see no point in continuing to waste my time on you.
