not only do they not grow back, i noticed trees just braking apart off-screen. luckily items dont despawn, so i was still able to get the wood they dropped, but i have no idea why they broke in the first place

In my game, it was because a bear ran into them and broke them. i witnessed this in my game.

It depends, if you started your game before the patch that added regrowing trees, you likely won't see them regrow, not only that, the patch destroyed all the trees in my elven quarter and none of them regrow, no matter how many times I've slept since then. day 100 in game and still no regrown trees. If you start a new game, after the patch, I can confirm, those trees do respawn.

I could not confirm this. May world is far older than Patch 1.4 and yet I see the trees regrow. It definitely helps if you sleep in the same area as the trees are, and there you should keep your fireplaces to as small a radius as possible because they block the respawn.

I just started this game after buying it, and yes, they do regrow after you sleep. Just cut down a whole forest of elven trees.

I did have the trees regrow in the Elven quarter after sleeping there. Zero luck with Ubasam mushrooms regrowing, no matter how much I sleep in the deeps. Which means I have as much Elven and Hardwood as I want (with the axe enchant), but Ubasam wood is a rare and precious resource.

Funny, in my world those mushrooms grow back but the trees do not.
Clearly a patch that did not work out that well. In other words, bugged.

TL:DR: Sleep in the Elven Quarter if you want the trees to grow back.

I never cut down a single tree, I would just find wood on the ground when I ran through the Elven Quarter and I thought maybe that's just what Elven trees did (occasionally drop wood). Then it turned out I was completely wrong, various critters were destroying the trees.

Eventually I was running out of elven wood and I kept going back to the Quarter to see if they had regrown and they hadn't. I got through all of the Lower Deeps, nothing dropping in the Elven Quarter (still going back regularly to collect Lembas ingredients).

I just slept one night in the Elven Quarter and when I woke up everything was grown back.

just confirmed that sleeping in the Elven district does fix the bug. Trees are supposed to respawn and if they are not for several days just sleep in the district the trees are in and that should reset it.

Anyone found a consistent way to get the Ubasam shrooms to respawn? Just camping in the deep hasn't seemed to fix anything so far.

funny thing i found - if you take down the tree and the base it spawns on you will get wood drops every day
another bug that needs fixing

Haven't tried the sleeping there strategy yet, but this wood resource being renewable would be great (used in crossbow arrows and base crafting).

sleeping there usually works (for most of the trees)

I can confirm that if you sleep in the Elven quarter the tree do respawn I had wondered what was going on when they stopped respawning but it was when I moved to the mines

Would it ever be feasible for 1) the mushroom trees to grow back (if they don't already) and or 2) an enchantment for an axe that gets more of the mushroom type wood (used in crossbow bolts)?

We can get an enchantment for ironwood, was hoping to ask if we could get a separate one for the mushroom type wood (if the mushrooms don't grow again)?

100% this. A mushroom wood axe enchant would solve the whole issue.

Some mushroom wood sources do grow back, so there is unlimited mushroom wood available.

If you could give specifics, that would be great. Lots of people have said this, but no testing so far has been able to confirm where or how these sources respawn.
